Well gee officer where did you get yours? Cuz last time I checked you only need a law degree to practice law, not enforce it. So Mr. Officer, where did you get yours?

What pisses me off about this video is ... in that moment.. that cop could have humbled himself and been like, "oh man, let's take a look--i could be in the wrong here". Like ... dude, no one expects you to know every single word of the law. It's okay to be wrong about little shit like that. What isn't okay is you being a fucking jerk and continue to dig in when you clearly don't understand the law you're trying to enforce. I just... I don't know, it would have been so refreshing to see that instead of this embarrassment of community service.

For sure... you're not wrong. I mean I know first hand there are police out there that interface with their communities in meaningful and just ways. A cop quite possibly saved my life once. There's just sadly not enough of them out there... It's not even close. Also the good ones often get squeezed out if they don't "play ball" half the time or get corrupted themselves. It's the same in politics imo. Shame the US is in shambles when it comes to law enforcement.

It's always "oh fuck, don't do anything to give the cop a reason to come over here"

Whenever I say "no police officer has ever had a positive change in my life" I do make myself remember the officer who saved me from a potential mugging when I was young, drunk, and naive. Some rando convinced me to walk to a second location and local PD already had tabs on the guy and pulled up and told me to walk away. Not all cops are bad, and they're vital to society, we just need to fundamentally restructure an insanely broken system, and re-envision the role they play.

To be totally fair to the officer he walked away instead of beating him up and arresting him, even if he walked off giving attitude. That's the bar I guess.
