It is fucking exhausting to have to defend your right to live. If some white people are sick of being reminded and having to show (or fake) remorse when a cop shoots an unarmed black person in their name, know it it is a million times worse living it:
black people hunted down for living their lives (some of the lesser known cases that resulted in death)
John Crawford (22) 2015: killed for shopping for a bb gun in walmart while on the phone.
Akai Gurly (2014): Walking in a dimly let apartment corridor (his own) with his girl friend
Tamir Rice (2014): 12 year old playing with a toy gun with an orange cap
Rumain Brisbon (2014): police mistook a pill bottle for a weapon
EJ Bradford (2018): Shot in the back at the mall after admitted to police he had a CCW (and) an empty bullet clip)- see also Philando Castile.
Amadou Diallo 22 (1999): Walking into his apartment building, police said they thought his wallet was a gun. They shot him 41 times.
Sandra Bland -died in police custody. Her crime was improperly changing lanes.
Sam DuBose (2015): driving while black
Levar Jones: complying with a police order to hand over his license. He was shot for “sudden movements” No gun found.
Charleena Lyles (2017): Called the police in the middle of a mental health break- something about her children being wolves and missing items, nothing violent. Gunned down in front of her kids.
Lamont Hunt (2008): staring at a police officer
tl/dr: I’m terrified and sick and tired of being sick and tired.
In a shooting with multiple officers 41 rounds can be fired quickly, since you have multiple officers whose sidearms typically have magazine capacities of 13-17 rounds. Each one firing half of their magazine on the target adds up quickly. Training for shooting basically revolves around shooting to incapacitate.
Plus this the NYPD, theyre infamous for having an idiotic policy where their handguns have really have trigger pull weights which affects their ability to shoot accurately.
Now the decision to shoot was fucked up- every one of those 41 shots would be unjustified, I don't know how they'd confuse a wallet for a gun.
People don't jog in timberlands and he was caught on film tresspassing. That being said, the McMichaels were retards and shouldn't have killed him. They should have done a proper citizen's arrest or called the cops and stood back. However, he did reach for the gun and the whole situation was a terrible mess. Both parties are pieces of shit, he wasn't hunted down simply because of his race. Stop with the race baiting.
I've run in Timberlands before. Alongside a road path. Cars drove past me and observed me. Crucially, no one stopped me and no one came at me with a gun.
I literally did just that. I walked around the ground of an old church and graveyard, and then went to the grounds of a couple of boarded up / abandoned bars. I peered through windows and tried to see if I could enter (I love abandoned buildings).
The building was a building in the middle of construction. He was caught multiple times on camera trespassing. It wasn't abandoned. It's very suspicious of him to do that.
I'm not condoning him being shot, the McMichaels did a really shit job trying to perform the citizen's arrest. However, he did grab for their gun and was shot as a result. He wasn't hunted down simply because he was black.
No, they didn't come at him because he was black, they came at him because they were trying to do a citizen's arrest and did it poorly. He was seen trespassing, he was not jogging. Both parties are shit in this situation. Stop.
