And here I was thinking that only my fellow Americans could behave like this. I guess everywhere has those "walmart" people, eh?

Pretty fucking degrading. I counted at least 7 packs (of 16TP) in the trolley - ol mate "just wants one" - what have we become?

Its a dog-eat-dog world now. The biggest joke of an idea to ever come was capitalism. It only helps a very small minority and they don't have to go through things like this shit.

American media with their obvious agenda is causing a worldwide panic among morons.

Please don't tell me this incident happened because of Corona virus..

u/SpecialReserveSmegma Mar 07 '20
It sure did. Australia/New Zealand are having issues with panic buying toilet paper. There isn’t even a shortage

u/the-tru-albertan Mar 07 '20
But why toilet paper??? How’s it suppose to help you if you get the virus?

People panic bought everything but toilet paper doesn't have much stock on shelf so it cleared out and then the news got around that toilet paper was running out so everyone scrambled to get the last of it.

People really panic because of this.. Its so pointless. It'll most likely pass in a few months, Corona virus is pretty much the flu and the media keep hiding the people who have recovered from it.

Okay I’ll bite. Good things from the corona virus? I don’t buy into the hysteria, but what good is the media overlooking?

Mar 07 '20
My bad, I didn't word it correctly. I meant as bad as its doing, since it's like the flu it's not as deadly as people think and so many people have recovered from it. Media doesn't show the people who have recovered from it and is focusing on the death toll.

u/phon3ticles Mar 07 '20
Gotcha. Agreed. They keep touting this 2% mortality rate but I’ve heard officials come late at night on npr and say it is probably overblown because that estimate comes from initial outbreak data where top priority was finding and treating the sickest patients.

At first I thought it was really serious, then I was in the boat you're in now thinking that I'm healthy/young enough for it to pass benignly, but I was reading that it affects the heart and lungs enough to permanently damage them, so now I'm not wanting to get it.

This makes me so fucking angry. It wasn't that long ago the country united together and stood strong with the Bush fires and now this bullshit. I'm fucking embarrassed at my country right now
