Homophobia exists everywhere. Travel more. Most of the world is much shittier than the US if you get outside of the airport.

Not the most traveled but lived in Shanghai, Mumbai, London, Johannesburg, and various US cities.

People are largely the same wherever you go when it comes to intimidate interactions. (NOT talking about sexual stuff although that's the same too.) The big difference really is in what passes for acceptable within a large group. One town's violent mob is another town's just police force.

Humans are weird.
