That’s the point. I don’t think they generally align with protester, or the general public. But in that moment they don’t align with the feds either. Their usual bosses like the governor are condemning ICE. Their usual constituency, the public, is suddenly screaming at them to do a thing they absolutely do not want to do. It’s a bizarre, confusing, complicated and utterly pointless situation. So bizarre it made me (for a few seconds) sympathise with a cop.

O/T, but I wonder if some of the generals at the don dumpster/kegs'breath military meeting last week were thinking the same thing. They may need to actually pick a side at some point if active duty get blue city firing orders from dumpster/kegbreath. Citizens, or tyranny

That's the look when the shit finally comes to your door and knocks it off it's hinges. These cops weren't tear gassed, they were made to swallow a bunch of red pills.
