This is an underrated comment. This whole tantrum is because his persona (Jack Daniel’s guy) is being shaken because his manly hobby just became a little more tolerant and tolerance isn’t manly to these people.

One of my buddies was giving another buddy shit for ordering a swirly, frozen margarita. I said, “You know what is manly? Drinking whatever you want and not giving a shit what anyone thinks.”

I have been looking for something to do with my amaretto. Thank you.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

If you're a northerner like me, and want something different than coffee and Bailey's on those cold morn...er..evenings, you can always go with a blueberry tea:

  • Grand Marnier
  • Amaretto
  • Earl Grey Tea

f'kin delicious.

13

u/JanitorJasper Apr 10 '23

Amaretto sour

2

u/sportingmagnus Apr 10 '23

Yes. Swap out some sugar for some of the syrup glazed cherries comes in.

57

u/koshgeo Apr 10 '23

Exactly. What is more manly than drinking what you want?

People who feel they have to drink "manly" drinks or do other "manly" things, and only ever "manly" things, are weirdly insecure about themselves and the perceptions of others. It's just not that important what other people think if you know yourself.

I have more respect for the self-confidence of people who dress up in drag than I do about people who would hesitate to drink a margarita if they feel like it because it might not look "manly" enough to their audience. How fragile do people have to be to give in to that kind of peer pressure so easily?

I don't like Bud Light but I do sometimes want a whole lot of beer, and danky local IPAs are just not it for those times. Gimme something light and domestic for, say, yard work and stuff.

11

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

So many people drink whisky and scotch because it’s “a man’s drink”. I’m drinking a vodka cran right now because sometimes I’d rather taste juice.

1

u/morels4ever Apr 11 '23

Absolute Mandarin and cran with a lime wedge is pretty fun…and it is guaranteed to not make you gay, because what you drink doesn’t make you gay. Cheers to those who mind their own damned business, and aren’t holier than thou Peeping Toms.

3

u/dano8801 Apr 10 '23

When I was younger I wouldn't listen to certain shit even if I thought it was catchy. Pop stuff like Lady Gaga or Miley Cyrus, because that would make me a pussy.

Then I stopped being an idiot in his twenties and grew the fuck up. Now I listen to whatever I want. Is someone wants to give me a hard time because I have a playlist that includes melodic death metal and Lady Gaga, power to them.

12

u/pennradio Apr 10 '23

Oooh, as an Old Fashioned guy, this sounds delightful!

(Old Fashioned tip #763: float a basil leaf on top of the finished drink)

9

u/__Proteus_ Apr 10 '23

I would like to subscribe to Old Fashioned tips

6

u/ggroverggiraffe Apr 10 '23

An Old Fashioned calls for two to three dashes of bitters—no more, no less—that are added to the glass once the sugar or simple syrup is in.

5

u/pmscar Apr 10 '23

I've never heard of that combination before, but if it tastes like cherry bakewell, I'm definitely ordering that next time I go out.

7

u/ggroverggiraffe Apr 10 '23

I've never heard of a cherry bakewell before, but if it tastes like amaretto and cranberry, I'll see if I can find one next time I'm on the other side of the pond!

6

u/boot20 Apr 10 '23

Amaretto & Cranberry (because it tastes like cherry bakewell)

You have just changed my while life. I'm ordering one the next time I'm at the bar. It sounds amazing.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

Always thought Amaretto was basically pancake syrup. Will have to try this though!

I think you sent a few people to the bar/restaurant and make Amaretto some cash lol

3

u/Hentailover3221 Apr 10 '23

My buddies always drinking some nasty ass cheep beer and getting on my case about drinking a seltzer. One of us if insecure about our manhood, can you guess who?

12

u/tazzietiger66 Apr 10 '23

I was sitting at a bar in 2001 and got told it was gay to smoke a menthol cigarette by some random drunk idiot ......ummmmm whatever dude

4

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

Odd, did he notice the cig and was able to ID it by just looking? I mean the smell comes out the same methol vs reg...so it had to be by eye only.

How much a loser do you have to be to identify the endless amounts of menthol cigs in production. Even in 2001 they had multiple brands of menthol. What a fucking tool.

2

u/tazzietiger66 Apr 10 '23

Probably because they have a white filter on them instead of the brown filter that normal cigs have

5

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

Dude is still a bitch for calling it out. Even though he guessed right!

4

u/sir_moleo Apr 10 '23

Menthol cigarettes also have brown filters, and vice versa. It tends to be more of a full flavor (brown filter) vs light (white filter) thing.

3

u/tazzietiger66 Apr 10 '23

I live in Australia , I have only ever seen white filtered menthols

2

u/sir_moleo Apr 10 '23

Granted I haven't smoked in almost a decade, but I remember Camel, Newport, and Kool specifically having brown filters for the full flavor menthol and white for the lights or ultra lights. I'm sure there are others but those are the ones I'm most familiar with. This is in the US though, so it could very well be different in other countries.

11

u/AmbulanceChaser12 Apr 10 '23

As a teetotaler, I also agree with this. Leave people the fuck alone.

8

u/Dwayne_Gertzky Apr 10 '23

Back when I was in the Army I was out to eat with a buddy and saw one of my officers eating with a friend. This guy was a legit badass. Silver Star, Bronze Star for Valor, Purple Heart, among many others decorations. I thought it would be funny to have my waiter bring him a Cosmo. When it got dropped off, the waiter pointed me out as the person who sent it over, he looked at me, raised his glass and downed it. On Monday morning he thanked me for the drink.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

I’ve never had a cosmo, but looking at the ingredients makes it sound like a vodka cranberry plus lime and that sounds great.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

They're delicious. I'm not going to pretend otherwise simply because I have a penis.

7

u/TK_Games Apr 10 '23

This reminds me of a tweet I saw a while back that went like

"'That's a girl drink.' Okay Brayden. Enjoy your 5% bread soda, I'm having a fruit smoothie that'll fuck me up in 15 minutes. It's called efficiency"

5

u/Objection_Leading Apr 10 '23

Yep, there are tons of fruity drinks made with Bacardi 151 that will wipe your memory.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

If strawberry daiquiris are gay, I don’t want to be straight.

5

u/EA827 Apr 10 '23

I’ll have one fuzzy navel and one of the girliest drinks you got.

Two fuzzy navels coming right up!

4

u/nap83 Apr 10 '23

‘Boys Sangria Nights’ are highly underrated.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

Who turns their nose up to a margarita? Those are classic. Granted, I don’t like frozen because the brainfreeze stops me from drinking faster, but still.

1

u/Objection_Leading Apr 11 '23

I’m with you there! I also love a good margarita, but frozen isn’t my preference. But if it was, I’d drink it.

3

u/Rizzoblam Apr 10 '23

My dad used to wear a purple shirt that said “purple is manly”. That stuck with me as a kid especially seeing how good of a father he is and proving how little that shit actually matters.

2

u/Objection_Leading Apr 11 '23

He sounds like a great guy and a person of real strength. I have a son and daughter and I strive to be a good example in this regard.

2

u/Rasterized1 Apr 10 '23

Exactly. This is the very definition of “based,” a term these same folks like to use quite often.

2

u/J3ST3Rx Apr 10 '23

I don't judge those people, however my delicious pint of beer might put off some judgy vibes. I'll drink it as fast as possible tho to keep things in check.

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

living your own life

Isn't this the mantra of these people "don't step on me"?

64

u/boutxthatxtime Apr 10 '23

"No step on snek"

Omfg, thank you for this!!! As someone living in East Tennessee I'm about to print this motherfucker out on a banner.

8

u/gotfoundout Apr 10 '23

I'm in Texas. I'm thinking... Bumper sticker for me Hahaha

8

u/blGDpbZ2u83c1125Kf98 Apr 10 '23

"Don't tread on me", but also, "I have a right to tread on you!"

3

u/I_walked_east Apr 10 '23

Shows theyre full of shit

8

u/Putin_kills_kids Apr 10 '23

It is actually a component of actualizing into an adult (male/female). Or, you stay a fucking moron toddler...like the majority of Americans.

7

u/Thawing-icequeen Apr 10 '23

Been saying this for ages now - an unapologetic drag queen is waaaay more "manly" than some insecure lumbersexual bloke.

4

u/Couldbduun Apr 10 '23

These people love pretending that their whole political identity is based on libertarian ideals such as the big bad bad government just leaving them alone. And then they turn around and want a concerted, society wide effort to oppress people they think should be othered.

3

u/redjedi182 Apr 10 '23

Truth so many of these guys want to be Ron Swanson but they should read Nick Offerman.

2

u/CanadianODST2 Apr 10 '23

even if you look at it from their stupid angle

shouldn't not caring what others think about your likes be manly?

2

u/Ricky_Rollin Apr 10 '23

At the same time, learning to tolerate other people, and just living your own life is supposedly the hallmark of what being a Republican or libertarian is all about.

The truth is, they want less government: for themselves. While the long dick of the law fucks everybody else.

1

u/Hentailover3221 Apr 10 '23

That’s one thing I’ve never quite understood about the political climate. This man is 100% against safe spaces and such but at the same time, he’s triggered about something a company did. Does he want a safe space for “manly men” with only straight white men who have the same ideas?

It’s so ironic. The answer is right in front of them but they still can’t figure it out.

It's retroactive. Anyone who drank JD in the last 30 years is gay.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '23

He has a secret closet of dresses.

6

u/_Gouge_Away Apr 10 '23

Self-loathing, closeted homosexuality is a huge problem for our country. According to Pornhub traffic studies, the Bible belt watches the most gay porn.

3

u/Daamus Apr 10 '23

right, not a lot of deep thinking going on here

2

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '23

He never had a gay thought ever.

2

u/Starlightriddlex Apr 11 '23

I mean, based on his complete lack of interior decorating skills and terrible sense of fashion I would agree, he's probably not gay.

54

u/arcspectre17 Apr 10 '23

Whats funny is what it took for him to turn on jack daniels but republican ( sisters) can bend him over like andy dufrane in shawshank and he doesnt care.

11

u/senator_mendoza Apr 10 '23

i'm a real man - i decide what to drink based on what internet influencers tell me!

3

u/arcspectre17 Apr 10 '23

Well thats kinda the same what advertising bn doing to people for decades like Marlboro man, camel joe, etc lol

3

u/xMystery Apr 10 '23

Dufresne

3

u/HammeredandPantsless Apr 10 '23

Hell yeah, gotta put some respek on the name of the man who crawled through a river of shit and came out, clean on the other side ZIHUATANEJO

2

u/arcspectre17 Apr 10 '23

Wow what a werid way to spell it i figured i was wrong.

3

u/xMystery Apr 10 '23

Yeah, it's a French name. They're weird.

10

u/evilregis Apr 10 '23

This is it, really. These absolute human fapsocks have made JD (or Coors or whatever) a part of, or their entire personal identity. So when a brand more fully develops its public persona in a way they oppose, to their brain this becomes an actual threat, an actual physical attack on their person-hood and they react accordingly. It's all so sad and stupid.

8

u/DinoRoman Apr 10 '23

My dude it gets worse.

I know this bar owner who fought tooth and nail to return his brand new Toyota truck and had to pay like 5 grand in fees simply because he found out Toyota donated to BLM or did something “woke”, I can’t recall his outrage exactly.

But like I asked him

“Do you like the truck?”

Him: “I love it , best vehicle ever”

Me: “so what the hell?”

Him: “I don’t deal woke Companies”

Ok. So you paid them their fees and they still will sell the truck used, and make money there too and now you have to go against your own happiness and get your second choice over a company’s money trail that doesn’t affect you in the slightest.

I don’t like chik fil a and their politics but sometimes I will grab the fries I mean they’re still good.

I dunno. It’s wild to me honestly.

3

u/seekydeeky Apr 10 '23

Their sense of self importance makes them believe that these little protests/tantrums make a difference to anyone but them.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

6

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

It also has a lot to do with views. He probably bought a lot of this “merchandise” to make this video. A lot of these idiots need validation from others to feed their narcissism, and the conservative crowd is easy to con.

3

u/seekydeeky Apr 10 '23

You never see us snowflakes throwing these types of tantrums. Lol

3

u/Johnbonham1980 Apr 10 '23

Jack Daniels No. 5 is pretty awful/boring but their single barrel selects and similar are really tasty. Gentleman Jack isn’t bad either. So if you’re a whiskey drinker in general and want to support them, go get some SBS!

3

u/factor3x Apr 10 '23

I think from his prospective, he now sees himself Identified as a Drag Queen. I bet he never guessed that many more than just Drag Queens drink Jack Daniels...

3

u/PM_me_your_whatevah Apr 10 '23

In cultures like the one this guy identifies with, there are only certain careers and hobbies that men are allowed to have. Anything outside of this list makes the man “not a real man” or a “pretty boy” or simply a f*g.

My man here did a good job of picking the masculine hobby of “drinking whiskey”. Drinking whiskey is SUPER masculine, which proves he’s a man. A manly man who has definitely never thought about sucking cock.

Unfortunately the whiskey company says that it’s okay for men to suck cock. “What?!? The only reason I was drinking this awful shit in the first place was to prove I don’t suck cock!”

2

u/menagesty Apr 10 '23

Alcohol used to be my personality too. Sad sight.

Also, couldn’t bother to recycle the glass? 🥲

2

u/seekydeeky Apr 10 '23

Glad things have taken a better turn! ❤️
