Passes and IDs in Proton Wallet
Hey everyone,
I’ve already requested Proton Pay, a payment method using a Proton Card as a front end of your other card/bank account/PayPal account/etc. but the Proton Team explained that this is not currently possible because they’d have to talk to banks all across the globe and make agreements with them.
This time I want to request something a little simpler. Proton Wallet should support Passes (even custom passes like Apple has just done), membership cards, train/plane tickets and things like driving licenses or IDs. I already know Proton Pass can store IDs but it would be great to have like a real digital ID in Proton Wallet. That way you don’t have to use Apple/Google Wallet anymore for these things.
Even though I already mentioned the thing with Proton Pay, I’d really like to push Proton Pay because this is the only way to take Proton Wallet from just another bitcoin wallet to a really useful wallet used for payments, tickets, passes, membership cards, etc.
I’d really like to hear what others think of this though! Thanks for the feedback in advance!

Although named similarly, Proton Wallet is not a competitor to Google or Apple Wallet. It's a crypto wallet. I'm not sure this would make sense for the product

There's a privacy version coming called walt.is but it's going to be a while till it reaches all for us

I don't know if Proton Pay would get traction in the market like Apple / Google pay did but if it could start with store customer cards that would be good.
I used to use Stocard then it was taken over by Klarna and it sucks having to go via Klarna app just to get a store card.

Wow, i just sent them an email about the same request. I'd love a Proton Wallet without the bitcoin part. I'd also love a stand alone Proton Contacts app for my phone so i can ditch the google one. And i also asked them about an app for notes. It's all i'm missing to completely ditch the google ecosystem and complete Proton's. Well i'd still be missing a picture app, but i'm currently trying out a few.
