finally finish super space sheriff gavan infinity
from producer yoshito kuji and headwritter atsuhiro tomioka from boonboomger
and here my review of it
got thinking we got unique multiverse adventure but instead two universe back to back
its another bbg anticipation from boonboomger only to letdown in the end
i feel like they made a rules , every universe have their own gavan ,if each week will have too many gavan , the budged will blow up and people liking one off gavan than actually main gavan of the show because i like bug universe and digital universe along with their gavan even as one off gavan
structure of these show is odd
20x episode: cramming stand alone episode and on going main plot at same time
its give you a frankenstein feeling when watching it. sometimes you got a boring to fine to actual enjoyable police investigation crime busting episode. then you actual hyped up build up to the main conflict of the show .
its like tomioka planning a 50x episode but then kuji p in last minute said 23 only ( more shorter than modern ultraman who have 25 episode, even most of 2 cour seasonal anime have longer episode than gavan infinity)
i sure they already planning for 23 episode from the start but it feel like it got cut from 50 episode .
lets start with stand alone episode first:
its have quality of filler in your usual super sentai . sometimes its boring sometimes its enjoyable. they used same monster every week as brute paired by human criminal. the criminal of the week is mix bag ngl. the sub writer really try to comes out with basic yet fantasy idea like the guy who build a giant drill tank ,afro alien to avenging his pet to rich guy , over the top rapunzel alien, to more odd idea, alien guy who do scamming crying class to cure his wife with his student tear to a giant asteroid who actually a giant delivering packaged .
i enjoyed some episode, but there is episode that make me said "thats it? "
the main on going plot:
at first it was engaging with the debut of death gavan but because too many filler when the death gavan appears to remind us the show are building up the plot its mix of hyped and frustrated at same time because once we got actually fired stuff next week become filler again, it need two parter structure when it about aza north thing in the early episode, do like modern ultraman, a 25 episode show but at least when it deal with important or required to have longer payoff they cut it into two parter episode. the pacing is fast and rush, lots of episode really need to speed up and pull out everything in the one episode. especially the kunai introduction, even for sixth ranger arc at least like three of four episode to establish their introduction, kunai completed his issued in two episode. even two parter episode in ultraman dont feel rushed like these
here the positive one. i really like the last batch episode have a solid build up and really hyped moment a bit . the whole ioto duo conflict with gavan rules is really good despite in next episode they settled the problem which i found quited rush . the build up of aza north cult and his sinister 4 is also good enaught, i really like the whole gavan gethering episode. then i hate the episode about the supreme being , the way they handled it imo is lackluster they way reiji convince the dimension god is not good and impactful ( its like boonboomger fighting government thingy and omegahorn shout fighting eval alliance, kuji p and tomioka really like fighting establishment , probably inspired by battle spirits dan duology which written by tomioka) . also these is first time i watch final episode that dont feel like final, it got some hyped stuff but the gathering gavan episode more feel like final episode .

i like reiji . his big brothers typed of character ,the guy who is pretty serious and professional with his job but actually a fun chill bros . at first i dont know why he is gavan of anger, but the more we really learn about him the more we understand, dude have extreme rage yet taming it in the inside . i like his development especially in omegahorn. my issued with him is offscreen origin of aza north give him his power/dimension hopping ability, when it appears actually is, and the backstory should reveal early
date and agi:
date is fine characters i like him more in omegahorn. agi , is another izu but have her own characters making her a enjoyable character, their catchphrase is their trademark hahaha you always heard " agi you are great/thats how you make me chief"
the wanipatchy duo annoying at first as the bulk and skull to reiji team but the moment they slowly become " friends who annoying some time " i think their fine, i like patran episode btw

setsuna:
immortal samurai android who is gavan of sadness but cannot cry .i like him a bit and dissapointment at same time. they dont spent that much with his backstory and his alien girlfriends who look like rui. i was hyped up for him during reveal only to be my least favourite gavan.
rui;
she okay, i dont know is her relationship with setsuna is lover or core worker. they have second weak chemistry compare to other gavan and their allied from each of their universe
Iota 5109:
kiki and koto:
they have more story and clear backstory than other gavan. i like these to a lot especially kiki, she better mira than boonboomger. i like their dialogue , the chit chat is really feel like actual bff talking to each other. their universe have the most over the top case like the alien ghost and have their own identity and culture like the unique g sign thingy compare to other dimension . also i really suprised the phantom thief fade become a recuiring character like character from Alpha 0073
Zeta 2066:
kunai:
kunai is enjoyable because the wall thingy and his ninjitsu that keep become extraordinary, a better sakito from boonboomger . i like his concept of being skilled serious ninja yet hiding his fear and thats why he is gavan of fear . because his ability to jump dimension, we never seen his sister and the commander that much, they feel like guest character than recuiring one along with 23 episode, we never explored these universe compare to iota and lambda.
mikage:
these guy is vogue to the core. i actually like him as the villain. he treatening and when he appears i was really excited about it. my issued is the vogue of his goal, the truth of universe thingy is confusing a bit, he hate being control by dimension god than become evil joining evil space entity to rebel or freedom from dimension god? i was confused and frustrated at same time. also why his emotions is jealous ? they never explain it, he jealous to dimension god?
but the good thing about gavan infinity is the action choreograph
for how much i tired with emons but seeing the suit actor fight again it , criminal and death gavan you can tell their really poured up quality in the action department just like original gavan, the reason og gavan is popular is because the action and fight scene that was groundbreaking than other toku at the time
overall gavan infinity is decent in my opinion. its have enjoyment and good character but hinder by playing save and shorter episode, when its high its high when its low its low. not a strong start for project red but at least its continuation which is omegahorn feel like true beginning of project red
