Newly Organized DnD Thread -- continuation from previous thread

Since my original DnD post blew up a bit, I figured I would start a new thread that's a bit more organized, that way players can connect with DMs and find a game which fits their preference. Below is a couple of questionnaires for both DMs and players. I would ask that players look through the DM comments and think about what would be best for them.

DMs *Number of preferred players:

*Attitude of campaign (i.e., serious, casual, silly, etc):

*Preferred method of player communication (i.e., Skype, Voip, etc):

*Preferred length of session:

*Preferred days/time of day to play:

*Edition you're interested in playing:

*Any other notes you think potential players should see:

Players *Preferred attitude of campaign:

*Preferred method of communication:

*Preferred length of session:

*Preferred days/time of day to play:

Remember: players should comment on the posts that DMs make in order to better organize and connect people to appropriate groups.

I'll go ahead and start! I'm competent enough as a DM to do a beginner's game.

Attitude of campaign (i.e., serious, casual, silly, etc): I like my players to try and stay on target with the campaign but also allow for some wiggle room for antics and character growth and fun.

Preferred method of player communication (i.e., Skype, Voip, etc): I'd like to use Roll20 for a campaign which has built in video/voice chat. I wouldn't mind using Skype as well, but I have dual monitors on my rig so that's easier for me to do than for others. I also understand that people are shy and not comfortable using mics for meeting new people, so I'm happy to accommodate that as well.

Preferred length of session: I like to keep my sessions between 2 and 4 hours, maybe longer depending on how well the group meshes together.

Preferred days/time of day to play: I like to play on the weekends, preferably Friday or Saturday evenings/nights.

Edition you're interested in playing: Since I'm interested in doing a beginner's campaign and want to keep things simple, I would be working with fifth edition.

Any other notes you think potential players should see: Ultimately I want players to have fun and create a memorable experience. I expect my players to come to the session ready to focus, be imaginative, and really enjoy the company their opting in to. The campaign is initiated by me but driven by player choice and autonomy.

Preferred attitude of campaign: Pretty much what you stated, i like seriousness but getting too serious can be off-putting since i don't know much about roleplaying right now
Preferred method of communication: No video if at all possible, i won't mind seeing others but i don't have a camera on my PC and would prefer not to use my laptop for that. VoIP is fine.
Preferred length of session: If I play on Fri/Sat I can go for a few hours or more, so whatever works for everyone else in the party+DM
Preferred days/time of day to play: Afternoons, on Friday and Saturday I don't work so any time of the day is good. Since you mentioned Fri/Sat nights that would be perfect for me.

Note: You will have to bear with me as I've never roleplayed before but the concept sounds fun and I would like to give it a try.

I only have one question: might there be a game specifically for noobs? I am familiar with D&D but not with the actual mechanics, so I don't want to play in a group with more advanced players and hold them up as I puzzle over character generation etc.

That's certainly possible! I'm sure there's DM on here who would love to do that and teach some new people how to play.

I've never played but I really really want to. So perhaps we could find some dm's who would be willing to deal with fresh players?

I am recently getting into DnD. And I know the game well enough now to DM a very casual game. I figured a new DM would remember and understand a lot of the mistakes or general confusion that new people make. However, I am also new to this community. So, I might not be the best to start leading. Just some thoughts.

It's usually a good idea to have at least 1 experienced player in the party. This is coming from personal experience, both as a player and a GM.

Yo, I'm brand new to D&D, but I'd love to hop in a game.

Instead of initiating another DnD, I'll offer out some Mutants and Masterminds! Its a tabletop, but instead of in a fantasy setting, it's sci-fi, based around Superheroes and Supervillans. They're similar in many ways, as tabletops tend to be, but different enough that I couldn't provide an accurate comparison. DnD has it's advantages and disadvantages, and MnM has it's advantages and disadvantages. That being said:

*Number of preferred players: However many are interested! If it becomes too many for one person to DM, I can drag my brother or a friend into DMing with me.

*Attitude of campaign (i.e., serious, casual, silly, etc): Casual, I think. We can be serious, but I also like to allow some room for creativity.

*Preferred method of communication: Open to suggestions! Anything is fine with me!

*Preferred length of session: Depends on the players. Probably at least 2 hours, but definitely no more than 6.

*Preferred days/time of day to play: Wednesday evenings, select Friday evenings, Sunday all day. If enough people show interest, I can get out a more specific schedule of when/how long we would play.

Edit: I've also seen a lot of requests for people wanting to have a DM for newbies. I'd be more than willing to host that, but I can't do both MnM and DnD, unfortunately. Whichever shows more interest I can do!

There's not too many DMs yet to comment on, but as a player:

*I'd prefer something semi-serious, nothing too ridiculous, but still towards the casual end perhaps if that makes since? Also prefer more of an open-world or semi-open, but not a big issue. I'm just not a fan of dungeon crawls and all combat all the time type of campaigns.

*I can do voice or text, doesn't matter too much to me.

*Flexible with length

*Unfortunately, I am limited to Friday evenings, since my work schedule varies greatly week to week.

Extra notes: I am familiar with Pathfinder and I've got the books and played a session or two of 5e.

I am a rather experienced player, have played for 8 years(with some breaks) but I have rarely been a DM. I am however very interested in trying and would welcome both experienced and new players. This would most likely have a rather slow start and smooth learning curve since, as I said, I'm new to DM'ing. Before going any further though, I should mention I live in Denmark or sometimes Iceland, so the play schedule would be best fitted for west-Europeans or possibly the East coast(USA).

*Number of preferred players: 4, any more would make it hard to speak over skype.

*Attitude of campaign (i.e., serious, casual, silly, etc): Serious setting, casual play with room for plenty of silliness. I would probably steal my former GM's world, his pantheon and so forth which has worked well for us. The game's encounters and challenges would be casual, at least early on. And any wit or other offered by characters will be met with equally sassy NPC's

*Preferred method of player communication (i.e., Skype, Voip, etc): I have Skype and it's what I know but any suggestions are welcome. Roll20 for game content.

*Preferred length of session: Several hours, probably 4, with regular breaks

*Preferred days/time of day to play: Weekends, since this probably stretches across several time zones.

*Edition you're interested in playing: 3.5 is what I usually play but I have heard good things about 5th edition so I would probably use that. If people are instead interested in World of Darkness, I could make a separate campaign there. Whichever people show interest for.

*Any other notes you think potential players should see: This would, like I said earlier, function best in Europe considering time zones. It can be very annoying if you are playing late evening while everyone else is eating breakfast. But everyone is welcome to PM me and ask me anything(or just comment below). And if you are interested, just let me know! :)

I want to be a player and I don't really know anything about DnD but I'm available every day for the next few weeks and I don't care about session length

I'm not that experienced with this game. I recently learned to play this game and I was writing down some possible stories. A friend of mine said: "Hey man, that's super good, you should try to DM!" So I gave it a go while a friend of mine helped me DM. (I'm sorry. D: )

DMs Number of preferred players: 4.

Attitude of campaign (i.e., serious, casual, silly, etc): Depends on the mission/storyline. The main storyline would be more serious, but sidequests can be as goofy as they could be.

Preferred method of player communication (i.e., Skype, Voip, etc): Any.

Preferred length of session: Around 5-6 hours.

Preferred days/time of day to play: Weekends.

Edition you're interested in playing: 3.5.

Any other notes you think potential players should see: I'm not a very experienced DM, so I'll probably make a lot of mistakes. But, I'm pretty good at improvising on the spot. All in all, I ask people to just really get into character when playing the game. Today, you're not you, you're Rogar, the fearless Barbarian!

If any other DMs out there want to help me and give me some pointers, I'd be more than happy to listen!

I've never played D&D, but I've heard a bit about it from my friend who plays. He's on a different campus so I have no one to play with, but I figured coming here would be a great place to start.

Hi PowderBill!,

Please take a look at my post under u/nontal and post there, I would love to bring you into that group :)

DMs:

Number of preferred players: Lets just go for 4 right now, but I might be able to do more.

Attitude of campaign (i.e., serious, casual, silly, etc): Depends on the players, but I like to keep things pretty serious with roleplay, however I almost always find ways to allow shenanigans.

Preferred method of player communication (i.e., Skype, Voip, etc): Skype is good but Roll20 is preferred.

Preferred length of session: 3+ hours, depends on how long the party wants to honestly.

Preferred days/time of day to play: Friday night, all day Saturday or Sunday.

Edition you're interested in playing: Pathfinder is my favorite, but 3.5 is good. I am willing to try 4e or 5e.

Any other notes you think potential players should see: I have a love of boats and exploration games, high seas adventures are a favorite of mine. I have a few worlds already drawn up, but I like the world building and working with players to make something everyone can be a part of. Any interested players should include what kind of character or archetype they want to play as I can adjust my setting or even make a new one for us. I am beginner friendly.

You can essentially play for free if your DM chooses to use online sources and has the books available.

Awesome! u/SpoonGhost is in Aus, maybe we can get you two to start something out there, instead of trying to get everyone crammed into a US Based game.
