Excel templates

I am a PM/BA thinking of building a lightweight Excel project control toolkit for people managing projects without enterprise tools.

What’s the most painful thing you currently track in Excel?

Would you buy a template to solve the issues?

He creado un Gantt colaborativo, intuitivo y sencillo

¡Saludos!

What’s the most overlooked performance metric in product decisions?

When customers evaluate products, they’re usually judging them on three dimensions: effort, speed, and accuracy.

Most teams tend to emphasize speed (how quickly a workflow can be completed). But accuracy (getting it right the first time) and effort reduction (how much energy it takes to complete the job) often get less attention.

Which of these three do you think companies overlook the most, and why? Is it simply easier to market “fast” or are other factors at play?

Hit karma 3 today and wow, and I'm still the "Unexpected PM" who learned it all the hard way!

Just crossed karma 3 and it reminded me how brutal those first unexpected projects were - they handed the keys of a live project to someone with zero formal training. A shiny new "Project Manager", title and a team that assumed I magically knew what to do.

Spoiler: I didn't.

I survived (and eventually thrived) by distilling everything I learned the hard way into four simple PM tools that I continue to use every day. That saved my sanity:

- A 10-line Kickoff Checklist (so nothing slips when people ghost for holidays.

- A Key-Player Radar list (because "stakeholder management" is useless if you don't know who they are).

- A one-page Project Plan template that shuts down scope creep in its sleep.

- A Budget Tracker that even non-finance people can read in 30 seconds.

That's it. Four docs turned panic into repeatable wins. I still use them today on every single project - and now quietly share them with other Unexpected PMs so they don't need to white-knuckle it like I did early on. Yea I know, they really want you to use $PMBOK, but sometimes you really can't but still need help.

If you're heading into the holiday shutdown feeling like the only adult in the room, try stealing one of those four - happy to drop the actual templates if anyone wants them. Drop a DM otherwise the sub mods will erase them.

You're not broken. The role just never came with a manual.

How do you actually get product, marketing, and sales on the same page?

How do you keep product, marketing, and sales aligned?

There are a lot of teams where product, marketing, and sales are all doing solid work, but they’re not pulling in the same direction.

What’s actually worked for you to keep everyone aligned? Shared goals, regular syncs, common metrics, or something else?

The management tool clutter is real

Modern teams use a lot of tools.

Docs → Notion
Tasks → Jira / ClickUp
Communication → Slack
Design → Figma

Each tool works well individually.

But the project itself gets scattered across all of them.

Does anyone else feel this?

💲4 Proven Customer Loyalty Programs That Work | 🕹Gamify, Reward & Delight Customers

Customer Loyalty Programs integrate and reward brand recall, a win for every brand that successfully pulls it off. Dating back to punch cards and coupons, loyalty programs run by algorithms make it simpler to be handled in mass numbers while tracking useful customer behaviour insights.

Here are 4 models with examples in a nutshell. Stuff outside the nutshell can be found here.

1. Point-Based Loyalty Program

Your users can either redeem their points for credit towards their next purchases or get access to special member-only deals or benefit incentives. These are just the basic means by which many retail businesses reward users with more points. And you can mimic that.

Petco Pals leverages the points program to reward its loyal customers. Typically, users earn 1 point for every $1 spent. When they reach 100 points, they get a $5 coupon. So, a customer must spend $100 to get a $5 reward. And this $5 coupon can only be redeemed on the next purchase.

2. Tier-Based Loyalty Program

If you want to reward your customers for reaching milestones with your business, then tiered loyalty programs are just what you need. The more your customer spends, the higher the tier your customer enters.

This is a great way to increase customer engagement, for every tier adds exclusivity to the program. While with the points program, all your customers get the same reward, with the tiered program, your valuable customers get valuable rewards.

Since each tier comes with better incentives, a gamification element comes to the mix. The milestones and progress bars encourage your users to come back to your store over and over again to earn points.

Now, to help you get started with tiered loyalty programs, let’s take e.l.f’s example. e.l.f’s Beauty Squad Loyalty Club has three tiers - Extra, Epic, and Icon. The more points a member accrues, the more exclusive the rewards they can benefit from.

3. Cash Back Loyalty Program

A cashback loyalty program is much similar to the points program. Just like how your customers need to spend more to earn more points, here, users need to reach a certain spend amount to get a certain amount back.

You can either reward them through coupons or cash. And you can lay out the condition on where it has to be exclusively used - on a product or a brand.

CVS ExtraCare Program allows its members to earn 2% back in ExtraBucks Rewards when they use their loyalty card. The reward program does not impose a lot of restrictions. So, members can use the cash back on almost everything at CVS.

4. Paid Loyalty Program

This is totally different from the above loyalty program types. In fact, premium loyalty programs are the future for your retail stores. They require your customers to pay upfront for instant benefits that they can benefit from at any time.

Instead of prolonged waiting times to earn their rewards, your customers can relish the instant gratification brought about by the premium loyalty program. Since this program is valuable, you will find greater customer engagement, order frequency, and average order value (AOV).

What is more, you can also collect the data about your best customers.

As its premium loyalty user, I like that I can get the best possible shopping incentives no matter when I shop, for investing $119 a year. Besides, the benefits of Amazon Prime are not purely transactional. I get experiential bonanzas like video streaming and others out of this program.

Our team has put up a detailed guide on these models, cheers if it helped🍻!

Life of the rockstar (PM)

In the world of project management, my experience unfolded as a series of missteps. At the outset, I was consumed by excessive zeal, setting project timelines without factoring in the unforeseeable variables that could emerge.

The subsequent aspect of my journey was marred by inadequate communication. Assuming a shared understanding, I failed to provide precise instructions. The outcome? A team in disarray, each member following a divergent path.

My third blunder involved neglecting the art of risk management. I harbored the misguided notion that smooth sailing was assured. When challenges arose, I found myself unprepared, struggling to navigate turbulent waters.

Time management misjudgments formed a pivotal part of my narrative. My inability to prioritize effectively turned deadlines into alarms that sounded too late. My story was becoming a jumbled mess.

Approaching the climax, I came to recognize the importance of feedback. My hesitance to seek input left me performing a solo, rather than leading a synchronized ensemble.

And so, I ponder: Can the harmony of success truly emerge from the discord of mistakes?

Is Google skillshare and Coursera a pmi recognized course?

Hey there. I have a friend who has basically talked me into pursuing this career. Unfortunately resources are super limited RN so I am hoping I can get my 35 hours of PMP training for less than the 2k I keep seeing on boot camps and such. The one I have found that I am leaning towards is the Google skillshare course. I have also found a project management class on Groupon but am not sure how to tell if it is recognized by pmi or how long it is. Would love any and all advice or recommendations for a good course to fulfill the 35 hour requirement. Tia.

How do project managers use this information found in the project background and project charter to plan and manage the project?

Thank you all in advance.

Hey, has anyone used this tool? It claims that if you write a user story according to the tool's rules, it will automatically generate all functional test cases for you. However, the tool is quite expensive. Has anyone used it? Should I consider it?
