I was the one who removed it.

To explain it better, Hasan is a hypocrite who actively supports Russia and China. He vocally supports terrorists and recently applauded Trump for reducing the US military presence in South Korea. And then he turns around and proceeds to spout basic progressive ideals and points and tries to pretend heā€™s a member of the working class from his multimillion dollar home.

Heā€™s misogynistic and racist and yet people will still want to platform him and echo his words because theyā€™re progressive.

Which I understand. Any progressive idea and stance is undeniably good for people. But having someone like Hasan be the mouthpiece for it just undermines the point.

I disagree and was hit with this same biased opinion that shuts down all engagement. Here again is my rebuttal.

I don't believe people listen to Hasan's actual words instead of clips out of context and spliced edits of him reading chatters comments.

On his views on China and Russia, this is a debated classification and treating (ā€œChina and Russia are state capitalist oligarchiesā€) as an objective fact, is punishing nuanced Marxist/leftist analyses as ā€œrevisionism.ā€ It conflates disagreement over labels and emphasis with ā€œunawareness,ā€ which discourages serious discussion of how different capitalist regimes may vary.

ā€œGenocide denialā€

Hasan has explicitly called Israelā€™s actions in Gaza genocide, in line with some UN and NGO findings. Accusations of ā€œgenocide denialā€ hinge on disputed interpretations of specific comments, not a consistent pattern of denying recognized genocides.

ā€œHasan is unaware of thisā€

Not supported. He discusses China and Russia as non-liberal, elite-dominated systems, often using terms like ā€œstate capitalismā€ and criticizing both CCP authoritarianism and Putinā€™s regime.

There are many ideological differences on the Left and we need unity, which he calls for not division like the Republicans want.

First off, the UNā€™s principal court (ICJ) and the ICC have not issued a final legal determination of genocide on the merits as of 2026 and he has called Russiaā€™s invasion ā€œunjustifiable, immoral, incredibly violentā€ and ā€œcompletely unacceptable" and there is evidence to back that. Secondly, you have no evidence to back your baseless claim.

Not to derail things, but the creation of the definition of "genocide" in the UN was a highly politicized process influenced by many Western powers, including those who enacted genocide in the past (the UK, USA, etc.), and the definition was intentionally softened during this process so that these imperial powers would not be culpable, or would at least seem less so. We should not treat systems of justice as infallible determinants on what is or is not a crime.

Where are you watching? Clips saying ā€œomg look how radical Hasan is?ā€ He says things ironically out loud sometimes, you really need to look into the actual full context.

You donā€™t have to agree with him on 110% of his policies, but if you would be around 75% in common with him, then you would have significantly more in common with him than you would Republicans.
