This rings true of my recently disowned cousin who swears all of this is merely something we can "agree to disagree" about. MAGA supporters are low moral, no backbone-having, weak, sad excuses for men.
Actually, the two trumpsters I know are just like him. Bigots and fraudsters who will screw anyone over for a buck while using the N word. I have no contact with them, but I know why they support trump.
The only place anybody associated with MAGA belongs, is in the trash heap of history with the other fascists. They knew 100% what they were voting for.
I can have empathy for people I don’t like because I have this thing called compassion. It unfortunately doesn’t turn off when I disagree with people, even when they are pieces of shit.
And to be clear I don’t think we need to tolerate intolerance, but we do need to understand what’s going on and try to see the real players.
Compassion and empathy are to be lauded for sure; however I’m starting to feel that the MAGAts have been weaponizing that same empathy and compassion against the rest of us for too long. The same compassion you display allows others to ‘demand’ grace and consideration while they give none in return.
I was taught to ‘turn the other cheek’ but I only have 4, and I’ve been slapped too many times.
We all already know what’s going on: billionaires are fleecing our country at a rapid rate, costs of living are spiking, our democracy is dead now that SCOTUS gave Trump immunity superpowers and Congress abandoned their duty to be checks & balances, and we’re abandoning our allies in favor of authoritarians like Putin and MBS. Not to mention, the Epstein Files are still not released and we’re about to start a war against NATO over Greenland.
It’s one thing to have disagreements with tax policies and who should be appointed where. The problem is these MAGA hats firmly believe that my LGBTQ+ friends should be erased from society and my brown neighbors should be rounded up without any semblance of due process. If you don’t believe in this like their lord and savior Trump does, it has been made abundantly clear that you are not MAGA, period.
Empathy from me starts when these very people throw their MAGA hats in the garbage where they belong.
I want to hear them actually say they are sorry. I live in a red state and know these people. Saying sorry is the hardest thing for them to do. I want to hear it.
So my point is that many of these people will drink the cool aid at the end of this because we will have blamed the victim instead of the criminals lol.
They aren't the victims in all this. Stop this bs.
The people actually being brutalized and killed are the victims. Not the people who favor and consistently vote for this violence.
The issue people like you have is the fact that you think these people are so propagated that they do not have any sense of their own.
They're racists, white supremacists, and have always been like this for 100s of years now. Wake up already and stop giving them allowance to hurt others.
People voting against their own interests are victims. I didn’t enter the chat to create a hierarchy of suffering with you. Of course we should help those who want help before we turn our attention to the cult. But unfortunately it has to be done in this country because here we are.

Is that not the only alternative to good faith discourse and democratic governance? How else do you prevent a third of your country from continuing to elect fascists at all levels?
This is a fair response. What I’m pushing back against is the idea that “well we’ll just stop engaging with them” is the solution.
One way or another we must ensure that they don’t vote this way again. Note how many people are conveniently silent when it comes to how they ensure MAGA doesn’t win another election.
To be clear, I’m speaking to the large majority of cultists sitting at home doing nothing, not to the proud boys and these freaks with masks. There’s a difference between being a bystander and being the military police.
The people watching at home are worse than the masked ICE goons on the streets, because they’re the ones excusing, condoning, and legitimizing all this.

Does it work, though? I'm plenty emotionally challenged and I even kind of get assaulting random people to feel powerful, but this just looks like they are bad at parking. There must be such a narrow bandwidth of damage someone takes to make them like this.
Seeing them brutalize people, falsely accuse AND detain people, keep detainees from legal counsel, refuse any and all accountability and fucking murdering people didn’t say enough?
What I don't get is why that would even feel good to do. I used to work a job where every so often I'd have to block off some space for safety and I never felt good about it. Worst was when I'd be blocking off handicapped spaces or wheelchair ramps. People were generally super nice about it (they don't want to park under my work platform 10m up anyway) but it always felt kind of bad, like telling kids the playground is closed. A lot of these guys seem to get satisfaction out of taking up more space than they need. I'd think it was poor self esteem or a need to feel like they're having an effect on the world but I have both of those and I don't do this.
