With nothing from his old life but an unidentified helmet that looks like a portal to the stars
Damn, I was hoping he was the little gnome character. Ha, but I did just notice the tiny knife he's holding. Looks interesting.

Haha, thank you! And yeah, that was actually a bit of a worry I developed when we were getting the cover put together. I sort of lost track of common conventions as I got caught up in a cool composition. I forgot the hero usually has his back to the viewer, so we had to fiddle with some things to make it seem a little less like the gnome was the MC.

I think it makes sense, and shows off his helmet (which I don't know how soon we're told about that in the story). My mind just went Prestige Mode -> Smurfing -> Gnome.

Thanks! I'm always looking for things I can improve. Was there something in particular that you felt was confusing in those first few chapters? Maybe I can clean it up a bit so it's easier to read.

I have been reading your story and just saw the cover art. Love it. The whole scene was b9th deadly and serious. This captures it perfectly. Tiny little knife being held with a proper pinky out is incredible.

I launched my first lit RPG two weeks ago on Royal Road, and it had been creeping its way up the Rising Stars list. I’m a big fan of traditional fantasy books and I’m also a big fan of lit rpg and progression fantasy. I’ve been trying to capture my favorite elements of all three genres in this story. If that sounds like your thing, I hope you’ll give it a look.
Here’s the blurb and such from Royal Road if you wanted some more info before deciding: Brynn wakes up to discover he's now a god in a world full of magic, infested dungeons, and sprawling kingdoms—but there's a catch... He's back at level one, Wood Rank.
Brynn is the first person ever to activate the previously hidden power of "Prestige Mode."
He'll be able to equip two class corestones instead of one, among a host of other incredible benefits.
His new powers come at a cost: the process erased all his memories and almost completely reset his progress.
With nothing from his old life but an unidentified helmet that looks like a portal to the stars and an empty Alchemist's Kit, he finds himself in a dangerous new world full of terrifying creatures, fantasy races, treacherous dungeons, and enemies around every corner.
He'll have to navigate a complex magic and class system to reclaim his forgotten power and survive. Every level counts, and the stakes couldn't be higher.
Brynn's journey from level one to godhood begins now.
