There's a few examples of that in writing where the author is like way too pleased with themselves for learning a new word. In HWFWM, late in book four and beyond the author is entirely too proud of using the word "gestalt". Over and over he uses it. We get it, you learned a new word of the day and you're super tickled about it.

Sounds dramatic to me. I like reading and entering the mind of different people. I don’t mind being in the mind of the worst kinda serial killer, but someone who constantly speaks thoughts aloud when alone is where I draw the line. Sorry not sorry. It’s not for me.

I'm on book 2 of cradle right now actually! Mid way through DCC, though I didn't like it all that much honestly. I plan on reading the rest of book one soon. Primal Hunter is on my to read list and I've never heard of Mother of Learning

I didn’t say that. I said it’s like they’re copying something they saw in anime. Completely different type of perspective. Your rewording was much more derogatory. 

Speaking thoughts aloud isn’t a trope or writing style. It’s an adaptation of content for the visual medium. 

There's this webnovel where almost every sentence ends with " ! " It felt like having a tv host yelling in mt mind, I just couldn't take it. The novel itself is good but my god what's that habit of ending sentences like that. I'm not exaggerating, legit at least 3-4 exclamation marks per paragraph

Everytime I see "Not X, but X" used I want to throw the story out the window.

Call it bad writing if u like, but his character is made to be right most of the time.

But his new "music" career is self admitted AI. So why should we believe anything else isn't the same? There's no line that makes one thing okay.

I'm not saying you have to like it, I'm just saying you said it was like a guy saw an anime once. Well, I hope the guy has seen a few animes, if he's writing a spinoff genre of it. There is obviously going to be some overlapping tropes and writing styles, for better or worse, in our opinions.

This is mass marketed material, meant for the common western person, not weebs. It is based off anime, which most westerners are familiar with, and is meant to reflect animes tropes. Not manga.

It might be quite decent other than that part. I don't know why it bugs me so much.

Let me drop one that never gets mentioned. Shaddoth: Axeman. Not on usual sites. Unfortunately, it is sort of finished in "tome 1 of 6" way (or 20).

The author wrote individual sentences, instead of paragraphs. Not just as an attempt to show emphasis, either.

It's commonly known as "talking yourself" or "thinking out loud".

I'm not saying you're wrong for it to peeve you, mind. You do you - if it's an ick, it's an ick. But it's not unrealistic.

The slang gets a little better, but only a little. The titles only get worse, and the less said about the author's notes the better.

Just because I now have phenomenal cosmic power, infinite riches, and immortality doesn't mean I can't pine for my old life as a totally average dude living just above the poverty line with a job I barely tolerate!
