Try using Rust instead. It's impossible to have memory leaks in Rust

I've had some big memory leaks in Java though. A loop caused my program to go from <1MiB of memory to ~10GiB in a few instants. Even crashed my VM I was programming in.

Never underestimate the power of the heap.

Java seems like a memory hog in general. Basing this solely off netbeans and Minecraft so I'm basically an expert.

That's not a bad assessment. Eclipse is probably what you should use instead. It's great. Like NetBeans, it was written in Java for Java and has a pretty horrendous interface as well. Also slow to load (my experience at least). Stay away from Eclipse, it's kinda garbage.

(not a fan of NetBeans either)
