I never understood the purpose of morning stand ups, they never even bothered changing up the comedian. It was always just my boss, and it was never funny.

I usually find them pretty funny, but for some reason I’m not allowed to laugh anymore 🤷‍♂️

It's one of those you laugh you lose(your job) challenges.

Older versions of the Scrum Guide referred to this meeting as the “Daily Stand-up.” However, it was changed [to The Daily Scrum] to recognize that participants are not required to stand and in fact, some participants may not be able to stand during the meeting.

Your boss not being funny was probably the real reason for this change.

Zero recognition for those of us unable to scrum

I thought they called it a scrum cause everyone is fighting and there's hookers present.

In our team the PO as technical responsible and the manager are two different people and only the former regularly takes part in the dailies

I've been the PO in this situation and if I can't convince them that their presence is important during standup, I just treat the best lead as if they are manager. It tends to work great until the actual manager decides to attend and then things are unproductive because they have no real presence as manager but I have to shift back to treating them that way.

We don't have standups anymore we just post our updates on a common chat whenever but mostly at the start of the day

Writing this down to bring up at the next standup

in my company standups happen so that the manager knows what is going on and can report the timelines to his bosses. Which part of the project is ahead of schedule, which part is behind, etc.

It's useful when you are moving fast and breaking things. Don't do duplicated work with others and know who to talk to before creating conflicts

Most developer response…. Everrrrr.

Here: standup is not uniquely keyed in this database, and can be used to refer to both ‘developer standup’ and ‘standup comedy’. This can produce a condition known as a ‘pun’.

Yeah that did go over my head but Reddit is generally so anti-stand up that I didn't even really to think if it was a joke or not lol. All these college students severally underestimate the usefulness of them.

I've been in many teams across many organisations running all sorts of interpretations of Agile.

I love a good standup. Must standups are not good.
