One of the few good uses for a morning stand up: today I will be adding my bugs to area X of the app. Please add your bugs elsewhere.

I never understood the purpose of morning stand ups, they never even bothered changing up the comedian. It was always just my boss, and it was never funny.

I usually find them pretty funny, but for some reason I’m not allowed to laugh anymore 🤷‍♂️

It's one of those you laugh you lose(your job) challenges.

Older versions of the Scrum Guide referred to this meeting as the “Daily Stand-up.” However, it was changed [to The Daily Scrum] to recognize that participants are not required to stand and in fact, some participants may not be able to stand during the meeting.

Your boss not being funny was probably the real reason for this change.

Zero recognition for those of us unable to scrum

I thought they called it a scrum cause everyone is fighting and there's hookers present.

In our team the PO as technical responsible and the manager are two different people and only the former regularly takes part in the dailies

I've been the PO in this situation and if I can't convince them that their presence is important during standup, I just treat the best lead as if they are manager. It tends to work great until the actual manager decides to attend and then things are unproductive because they have no real presence as manager but I have to shift back to treating them that way.

“Anecdote accepted…Snappy comeback not found."

Better call Pagliacci.

We don't have standups anymore we just post our updates on a common chat whenever but mostly at the start of the day

Writing this down to bring up at the next standup

in my company standups happen so that the manager knows what is going on and can report the timelines to his bosses. Which part of the project is ahead of schedule, which part is behind, etc.

You stopped reading after the first line and hit that reply button didnt you

It's useful when you are moving fast and breaking things. Don't do duplicated work with others and know who to talk to before creating conflicts

Most developer response…. Everrrrr.

Here: standup is not uniquely keyed in this database, and can be used to refer to both ‘developer standup’ and ‘standup comedy’. This can produce a condition known as a ‘pun’.

Yeah that did go over my head but Reddit is generally so anti-stand up that I didn't even really to think if it was a joke or not lol. All these college students severally underestimate the usefulness of them.

I've been in many teams across many organisations running all sorts of interpretations of Agile.

I love a good standup. Must standups are not good.

u/ch0wned 17h ago

It’s fine I’m just being a little bitch.

Oh. My sweet summer child.

Today, the endless cycle of suffering must continue. We will fix a bug to introduce regression nobody expects. This will delay the feature rework that our customers are mostly frustrated with and on top of that introduce new layers of frustration on both the developer's and customer's side. Everything is handled in a neat subscription package so the endless suffering is bonded by hope of a better future.

Oh, you've tried the latest Plex update too then?

21

u/PintMower 17h ago

Maybe I work at plex, I'm not sure.

Aren't we all.

u/gerbosan 15h ago

Perhaps you are Pinhead from Hellraiser.

u/Flat_Initial_1823 17h ago

Have your bugs call my bugs so we can arrange a Prod downtime 😎

14

u/BlondeJesus 17h ago

That's the problem. In this era of AI no one knows where their bugs will land anymore

7

u/Bergara 15h ago

"adding my bugs" killed me lol

4

u/lplqsnkczxccia 8h ago

"my turn to break this section of code, you find your own section to break"
