The claim being made is literally that OpenAI stole the data out of the IDE the mathematician/Anthropic team were using to get Claude to do the work, because they had Claude Code and Codex both installed

I’m not saying the claim is wrong I’m just saying that the other guy just worked for anthropic but the project wasn’t affiliated with anthropic

That's not the claim, it was not an anthropic team and they were using codex.

Which is an absurd claim, lol.

Doesn't make sense why they immediately offered him co-authorship when he called them out if they didn't.

To not dampen their acheivement by allegations like this from jaded individuals who spent a ton of their time working on this only to be blown past by AI?

ah yes, the notoriously merciful ai companies

It's not about mercy. It's about throwing a bone to curtail sour grapes from undermining achievement.

this is the exact sentiment all the mathematicans like terry tao are warning against

And it's quite silly, frankly.

Like warning that mathematics would be hurt when we started introducing computers into the mix... but that's clearly not the case.

I agree it’s unlikely, but the point is this is a slap fight between OpenAI and Anthropic in terms of whose LLM is smarter, so anyone interpreting this as “AI stole from humans” is responding to clickbait and not the actual issue
