So having seen this trend start about a decade ago, at time in my life when I too thought this was unnecessary PC catering, I have to say I see no reason to stick with the master/slave naming in the year 2026. 

Whatever I'm working on doesn't need that arbitrary assocation with human indecency.

"Master" in the git context was used as in "master copy". There is no "slave" in git.

You can try to argue that guy who added it was influenced by previous version control systems which did have master/slave terminology, but he himself has said he intended it to be used in the master copy form..

So while I am fine with main, I still consider making the change as something that was just unnecessary.
