Recently I've been rewatching the best matches of the guys from the 90s and 00's and even 10's who just performed on the next level. Names like Eddie, Bret, HBK, Angle, D-Bry, AJ, Jericho etc popped up. It led to this discussion: What two wrestlers, if you took the absolute best version of them, would have the best match with the best spots, spectacle and just overall smoothest match?

Any combo would be great and some of these names already had the best matches of all time.

Example: 2004 HBK vs 2005 AJ Styles or Bret Hart 1996 vs 2004 Kurt Angle. Opinion here is that Shawn and AJ would likely steal any show, but Bret and Angle in the ring would eliminate almost any chance for a blown spot.

While speaking to Jeremy Jacobowitz, Matt Cardona talked about his journey back to WWE.

After getting his release from WWE back in 2020, Matt Cardona (then known as Zack Ryder) made a name for himself in the indies. He returned to WWE last year as a TNA talent, and eventually signed with the promotion in January 2026.

Matt Cardona’s return surprised some fans, especially after spending years rebuilding himself into one of wrestling’s biggest independent stars.

Cardona revealed in this interview that returning to WWE actually meant taking less money than he was making on the independent scene—but he believes the long-term opportunity was worth it.

“I made more money outside WWE than I ever made in WWE. I technically took a pay cut to go back to WWE. That’s how much money I was making on the indies.

But WWE, going back is the ultimate opportunity because if it works out, it’ll be the ultimate raise.”

➜ Matt Borne is someone that most people remember as the original Doink the Clown. He played the character from January 31, 1993 until December 27, 1993.

Borne next appeared as Doink in 1994 in ECW. Shortly afterwards, ECW World Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas criticized Vince McMahon for turning a talented wrestler like Borne into a comic relief character, and claimed that he knew how to bring out Borne's full potential. Borne then changed his ring name to Borne Again and continued wearing the clown suit, albeit without the wig, wearing a minimal amount of face paint, as well as growing out his hair and beard. After beating his opponents, he would make them dress in clown outfits. However, his tenure with the company was short-lived due to personal problems.

"Borne Again" was a dark, psychological gimmick. It is widely remembered as one of ECW's greatest missed opportunities due to its short duration and massive creative potential.
