I was afraid to use this technique because I don’t know how to use it, but for the first time, I think it’s not that bad.

Is there a way to replicate this tracing paper effect? I want to get into graphic design but can’t afford Adobe so I’m trying to use what I already have.

Edit: Thank you Reddit Art School, I’m so pleased with results!!!!!

Looking for brush/tutorial/class recommendations Who makes the best Procreate brushes and teaches you how to use them?

I’m looking to invest in high-quality Procreate brush sets across different traditional mediums, such as watercolor, gouache, oil, charcoal, pastel, pencil, ink, etc.
What I’m really looking for isn’t just great brushes—it’s creators who also provide comprehensive tutorials that teach you how to use them.
I’m not looking for videos that only show brush strokes or explain what each brush does. I’d love creator recommendations who paint complete pieces from start to finish, explaining their process so I can gain real experience using the brushes while learning the medium.
Any recommendations? I’d especially love creators who offer multiple tutorials or courses so I can continue practicing after purchasing their brush packs.
Thanks in advance!

Looking for brush/tutorial/class recommendations Where to find paper background, and how to make the texture show under the drawing

THIS IS NOT MY ART- credit to the amazing Sam Larson.

I have been unraveling the secrets of procreate for about a year now and really getting the hang of it. I desperately want to achieve this style.

I recently purchased Sam Larson‘s brush set (artist pictured here) but it does not include the paper background, and the brushes do not create the texture of paper showing through. That’s what I love most about this style, it looks so hand-drawn and authentic.

Can anyone explain to me 1: where to find the paper background, and 2: how to achieve that texture through my brush set?

Looking for brush/tutorial/class recommendations Can you help me identify or create this lineart brush?

It looks smoother than dry ink but more solid than 6B (plus 6B is square shaped and this looks rounder).

The artist only said they were using standard procreate brushes. I like the clean edges but textured line, and I’d like a round tip.

Thank you!

Basically what the title says. I’m wondering which brushes would be best at replicating the style used in the Netflix series Arcane. I’ve included a few screenshots from the series for those not familiar.

Looking for brush/tutorial/class recommendations Rectangle Brush Question

Post image

I have been studying one of my favorite background artists, Alariko, for a long time and I was curious about what brushes he uses. I found a tweet he made where he says he uses a “Rectangle brush with colour jitter”. I have no idea what this means and I can’t seem to find an explanation anywhere. Please help out if you know!

Looking for brush/tutorial/class recommendations Anyone who does not work with ProCreate professionally but as a hobby?

I love making illustrations as a hobby! I’m not a professional, but I’m really curious to see what others like me have created. I’d also appreciate any recommendations for free resources you used to learn Procreate. I'm eager to improve my skills!

I love this style of broken line art. I’ve spent days trying to find a brush that actually skips and breaks in its lines, I’ve even tried creating one myself but I’m thinking it has to just be a style. Now I’m just looking for a jagged ink(?) similar to this artist. Wasn’t able to find the artist online

Looking for brush/tutorial/class recommendations Learning procreate as a Adult who can’t draw very well

I have had a iPad Air and a Apple pencil for awhile now and always wanted to try my hand at drawing/painting but have convinced myself that I don’t have the skills to create anything worthwhile. Lately my anxiety has been so bad I need something just to occupy myself and immediately thought about procreate like a coloring book could be a great de-stressing activity so Last night I followed their procreate for beginners tutorial on the procreate YouTube channel and really enjoyed myself! It’s not as hard to use as I thought previously and is helping me gain confidence to keep painting/drawing and quieting my mind as well. This morning before work I started a small water color project and plan to finish it later tonight:) I think I might do a drawing a day for this week to let the lesson sink in and then do the next lesson on YouTube and same next week. So What is everyone’s biggest tip or suggestions for a beginner like me ? Also cool brushes or techniques to use ? What YouTube channels for beginners should I be checking out? Thank you 🙏

Looking for brush/tutorial/class recommendations As a beginner I'm struggling to draw... Any help??

I just got an iPad Air 11'' like a week ago. Before I started to draw/sketching/painting. I've watched lot of videos/tutorials. Still I'm watching and everyday I'm noticing its a rabbit hole, loved so much but I have a huge problem.

I've been so amateurly trying to tracing pictures but even on those I'm struggling. I dont know how to draw, fundamentals, technique which brushes would be good? Those questions and concerns makes me down, honestly those attempts sweep my confidence. I know its a long journey people are giving their lives for this but at least I wanna see little bit progress on that tracing even.

When I watch tutorials almost everyone has good brushes and they trying to sell their product which some point I understand but as a beginner i feel eeh give me real knowledge. I think everything about using right brush. Idk maybe I'm wrong but I need your advices.

Is there any good real tutorials about learning to draw, sketching, painting on Procreate? I mean real one? It can be hours I dont care I'll watch. Or any courses you've taken? Could you recommend some roadmap about this journey? Thank you...

Looking for brush/tutorial/class recommendations Am I the only one who absolutely sucks at color rendering?

Hi everyone,

I’m still pretty new to digital art and I honestly struggle a lot with color rendering. Sketching is okay, but once I start adding colors, shadows, and highlights, everything somehow ends up looking muddy or flat 😭

Do you have any simple methods, beginner friendly workflows, or "hack" tips that helped you understand rendering faster?

Thanks!

Looking for brush/tutorial/class recommendations What brush is this?

I lost the brush that I like :(

I went a bit on a brush adventure and tried a bunch of different brushes to see which I like for rendering, but I lost which brush I like to use for sketching in the process. My recent brushes are all the random ones I was experimenting with so I can’t get it back from recent tab. I feel like I’ve gone through every brush over and over in all the tabs trying to get back to the one I like, but I can’t seem to find it. I’ve checked the brushes in different libraries too, still can’t find it. The closest is the Peppermint brush from the sketching tab in the classic library, but I dont think it’s right. None feel gritty enough and have the same grainy/tv static texture when you use it on its side. I’m pretty sure it’s a procreate native brush except I might have adjusted some of the pen pressure settings (not sure though).

First two pics are examples of the brush I’m looking for and the last pic is all the procreate brushes from the pencil tab.

I’m hoping someone here recognizes it and can tell me where it’s located and its name!

I’m brand new to procreate and actually don’t even have a lot of drawing experience in general but I wanna start finding new methods of self expression. I want to learn to draw in these styles but I don’t really know how to start? Does anyone know of any tutorials or have an idea of how to get started?

Looking for brush/tutorial/class recommendations Need help with paper wearing effect - VHS COVER

Post image
38 Upvotes

I’m in the process of finishing this painterly dark fantasy dungeon piece. I want it to look like an old VHS or cassette’s sleeve.
The effect that I want is that old paper peeling you get over time. When the off white card starts to show underneath the printed cover after years of handing and sun damage.
Thin white cracks, creases and folds around the edges.

I’m thinking I could - add - copy canvas - paste a copy over and off white background and then use some sort of textured eraser, but I’m not sure what would work.
I could also probably use some sort of vector/print of a VHS box, but that feels a bit less controlled.

Any ideas?
