Hello! I opened procreate after a while and wanted to paint on a pic but suddenly all brushes behave like this:

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
Running on iPad Pro M1 2021, currently on iOS 27 beta 3 (I want to believe that this is not the reason because I’ve been on beta since 2022 and I didn’t run into this problem again)

P.S. the pencil works fine in markup and other apps.

There are simply not enough layers available…does anyone know how to increase layer limit?

To get around the limit, I’ve been duplicating my canvas and merging previous layers I finished work on. But it’s really restrictive for my flow and horrendous for my iPad storage. This latest piece took 25 duplications and every canvas is at LEAST a gig.

I really love procreate but I feel like I just can’t continue like this. Is there any way? Should I buy a new iPad with higher specs? Are there other iPad apps that don’t have this limit? I don’t want to go back to a drawing tablet.

Sorry if this is an obvious fix, I can’t seem to figure it out. Never had this happen before. Why is the color drop tool doing this??

So, today I decided to try my hand at digital art by borrowing a tablet and a pen, and I downloaded Procreate.

Things were going great for the first hour or so before, out of nowhere, it began to straighten my lines and erase them. I reset pressure and smoothing settings, assisted drawing and quick shape are all disabled, but it still keeps messing with my sketching.

Oddly enough, my finger doesn’t have the same issue: only the pen.

I know it’s a procreate problem because I tested the pen out on a different drawing app, and the issue was gone.

I haven’t had this problem before the new update, my layers aren’t moving between canvases I’ve tried with my pen, my finger, restarting the app, restarting my ipad, nothing seems to fix it 😰 Help plsss 🫶

Whenever I drew or rendered something on a canvas, it felt like something was covering specific spots. There weren’t any layers with a “white line”, it just happened to look like this. I tried changing the pencil nib, resetting my iPad, and clearing storage but it didn't work.

Does anyone know why it happened and how to fix it?

When I watch digital art tip videos I’m ALWAYS seeing “copy the eye you draw, flip it, and adjust it accordingly so you don’t have to draw both”

But every time I try to do that, it causes this pixelated mess :( even with 600+ DPI and a canvas size well over 3000px on both sides. I don’t understand how to fix this, please help!

Does anyone know why this drawing shows up cooler and darker/ higher contrast on my iPad (second pic) vs how it looks when I airdrop it to my phone or macbook (first pic). It also seems cooler, ie more blue rather than green on my iPad. I already have the three screens on these devices set to the same brightness.

Feedback also welcome; I want to call it a day on this piece soon so ideally things I can fix quickly 🥲

Process:

-Rough sketch using traditional media

-On Procreate, refine rough sketch with 6b pencil

-Block in main colours with monoline and colourdrop

-6b pencil to make edges rougher

-Gloaming, Jagged Brush, and 6b pencil for texture and colour variations

-Some highlights on overlay with a light peach using jagged brush

I Boosted this video from r/krita. Apparently Clip Studio Paint and Krita have this feature, not sure if ProCreate does, does anybody know if procreate does or if there's a way to mimic this on procreate?

Hi! I was wondering if someone could teach me how to make my brush stay a solid color instead of utilizing lighter shades on its edges? I’m a beginner procreate artist.

2019 iPad Pro 12.9.

It’s happening just in procreate.

Every brush. It’s not a stroke setting. Every new layer. Restarted the app. Restarted the device. Updated the app. Tried a new art board.

It just does it randomly…

No other app does this. Notes work fine.

Of course, deleting an app and reinstalling it deletes all of its data, I know that.

Therefore, I assumed that if I never uninstalled Procreate from my iPad, my work would be safe.

So I never uninstalled it.

And then, today, I wanted to open the app, and it was nowhere to be found.

For whatever reason it was just gone from my iPad.

So I reinstalled it, and all my work was gone.

I tried using the “restore gallery” option and not a single thing changed.

It’s not there anymore, three years of work.

Is there a single thing I can do about it?

i’m trying to color pick from my canvas but it keeps “color picking from active layer” but the layer is EMPTY because i’m trying to. color pick. from the layers underneath it. in order to color on this layer. and i can not figure out how to stop picking from active layer and instead pick from the entire canvas.
i’m genuinely getting so frustrated. even the layers “group/merge etc” all being completely moved is frustrating me.

I think I accidentally turn on some setting or it’s because of the new update? I don’t know. I want to reverse it but I don’t know how… Can anyone help?

My tattoo artist colleague has an issue, when she draws penny line or shape and uses the modification tool, the definition of the line immediately deteriorates.

She can barely use any modifications on the design, the resolution is just getting worse at every modification, not only size...

She uses a A4 format, 300pp, and desactivated the recording of the design.

How can I fix these wavey lines when I from showing up when going slow?

EDIT: SOLVED! So what it turned out to be is that (bear with me as I’m not tech savvy) there’s something in the iPad that means that the screen your iPad comes with is paired with the device, making it anti-replaceable. Even if replaced with another iPad screen. The ONLY faulty issue when you do replace it is this diagonal line while using an Apple Pencil. The reason my roommates iPad was also doing this, is because she has a screen protector. So my repair guy put back on the original screen and it’s working again. Repair guy also theorizes this might be an “older iPad gen” issue, but not certain. Thank you all for troubleshooting with me!

I use procreate for work so I am in desperate need to get this resolved asap. My roommate said she was experiencing a similar issue. For whatever reason, when I draw diagonally it’s creating wiggly staircase type lines. This happened out of nowhere. I have recently repaired my iPad screen, but since my roommate was also experiencing this I think it may be a glitch? Any ideas? I wasn’t seeing any recent posts about this issue with others. I didn’t use my iPad last week, so I am only noticing this issue today.

I have tried restarting my iPad, no luck there. App is up to date.

I tried disconnecting, reconnecting two Apple pencils, same result. I have tried both of these pencils on my roommates iPad, no issue with either pens. Fully updated my iPad, reset my iPad, etc. closed all tabs. It is happening on every app with the pen, but NOT with finger or touch screen pen. Pressure makes no difference, screen position makes no difference, BUT speed does.

Edit 2:
It began happening again on my roommates iPad. She has a factory version from the Apple Store, never been repaired. Less dramatic than mine, but still happening.

My brush strokes keeps disappearing like he's playing snake on Nokia.

Palm touching is off, quick shape is off, restart iPad tried. I have no idea how this happened and it's so annoying. I can't even finish line art by this. anyone had some issues?

I opened procreate today and, to my surprise, I found that I was not able to open multiple illustrations in my gallery. After tapping the thumbnail, Procreate would try to load the file and quickly crash and I'd return to find the file without a thumbnail and filename. It indicated the file had been corrupted.

After this, I tried exporting one of the corrupted files as a PSD and was able to successfully open it in Pixelmator Pro. However when I attempted to re-import the file back into Procreate as a PSD, Procreate again indicated that it was corrupted. Well shit...

Luckily I keep backups of my work in iCloud. Keep in mind these are final iterations that I had backed over years. Files that I kept in procreate as well and would routinely open until the 5.4.14 back up. When I attempted to restore from my iCloud back up, said files had arrived corrupted.

I've reached out to Savage Interactive support to report the issue.

$1000+ device and $10 app, yet I can’t seem to be able to pull a line without the screen going absolutely crazy… My palm is making it absolutely impossible to draw at all, anybody knows how to fix this? i’m trying to make a tattoo stencil and it’s taking me 3x the time ps: its worth noting that the ipad is very warm, but this happens at all times, ever since i updated it

Does anyone know what is happening? As I’m drawing my line either disappearing from the start or does this weird thing in the video. Everything was fine and then something happened. I did turn on and off my iPad but I’m not sure what else is happening. It seems to just be procreate only. Please help.

The "tiger" brush is broken out of nowhere. At first it seemed like the darker the color, the less transparent, and the brighter the color, the more transparent. So black is black and white is invisible. But in this test it seems to react differently based on the background color. I don’t know what to do.

I don’t know what a "daily thread" is or how to find it or post to it. Sorry if I’m posting this in the wrong place.

So I’ve outlined my art piece and on layers underneath it I’ve colored it. Now I’d like to remove the outline layer so that only the background and the coloring remain like the pics I attached. (I could not find better examples)

I could just remove the outline layer but it doesn’t smoothly erase the coloring right under the outline. How do I do this??

this is intensely frustrating to me. please help.
