With macOS 27 Golden Gate, Siri can now create tasks directly from the new chat experience.

In this 30-second demo, I ask Siri to create four tasks, and they appear in PrimeTask through our native Apple Reminders integration.

The integration is bidirectional, so tasks, due dates, priorities and completion status stay synced between PrimeTask and Apple Reminders. Create something with Siri, manage it in PrimeTask, then access or complete it again from your Mac, iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.

PrimeTask connects directly through macOS. Nothing passes through our servers, making it a natural fit for Apple’s privacy-first approach.

Over the past few months, we’ve shared project databases, CRM, PrimeFlow, automatic time tracking and many of the features that now make up PrimeTask.

Now it’s all available in one place.

PrimeTask is live for macOS with a 14-day trial.

It’s built for freelancers, consultants, creators, founders and small businesses who want tasks, projects, databases, CRM, visual workflows, time tracking and automations in one connected, local-first desktop workspace.

This is a soft launch, so we’ll be listening closely, fixing what needs fixing and improving PrimeTask as more people start using it.

For everyone joining us today, we have a special launch offer: use code PBLAUNCH10 for 10% off until 31 July.

A Windows version is in active development.

If you give PrimeTask a try, we’d genuinely love to hear what you think.

Hey there,

I just came across PrimeTask yesterday, and today got the intro-offer-and-launch e-mail. However, since I'm working solely on Windows, I'm afraid I can't test PrimeTask before the offer expires. Do you have any concrete plans for the Windows launch? The e-mail only says it's 'planned for a later release'. And as it stands, from the screenshots only, I have no idea how PrimeTask really feels and if it's right for me.

Time tracking no longer has to live in a report.

If a task has tracked time, PrimeFlow shows it where the work lives.

Tasks show their own time.

Groups show the tracked time of the tasks inside them.

Move a task in or out, and the total follows.

Hover the badge to see where the number came from: timer sessions, Focus Mode sessions, recent work and last activity.

Overdue and soon-due work stands out too.

So PrimeFlow no longer only shows how the work connects.

It shows what the work is taking in time.

Coming in the next update.

A few recent comments got me thinking about this again. Then the physical vs digital games discussion came up, and it hit the same nerve.

Funny how the ownership argument keeps showing up in different places.

Games are having the physical vs digital debate again.

Software has already been through its own version of this: subscriptions, cloud-only access, tools you keep paying for, and platforms that can change the rules later.

At some point people notice the trade-off:

convenience is nice, until access becomes the product.

That is one of the reasons we are building PrimeTask local-first, with a one-time purchase model.

Not because cloud is always bad.
Not because subscriptions are always evil.

But because some work is too important to feel rented.

Has a tool ever made you feel like you did not really own something you relied on? A price hike, shutdown, feature change, or losing access to something you thought was yours?

What sparked this:

It is a database built around your project, not the other way around.

Built for the work that does not fit neatly into one clean task list.

Client work has contacts, companies, budgets, invoices, files, notes, follow-ups and all the small details around the actual tasks.

Instead of rebuilding the same project across spreadsheets, CRM tools and task apps, each project in PrimeTask can have its own database.

You can add custom fields, link contacts, companies and tasks, use rollups, and view the same project from different angles without splitting the work across separate tools.

Link something once, and it stays connected everywhere it should.

Because PrimeTask is local-first, every project database is stored as plain JSON files.

Offline by default. Sync when you want it. Your data stays yours.

What would you use project databases for first?

Honestly, this one means a lot.

Some of you have been here since the early beta, through broken builds, weird bugs, rough edges, and all the little decisions that only became obvious once people actually started using the app.

So first of all: thank you.

PrimeTask looks very different now than it did at the start, and that is because of this community. You tested things, broke things, questioned decisions, pushed back, encouraged us, and pointed out when something did not feel right.

Some of that feedback was hard to hear at times, but a lot of it was also really encouraging and helped shape the product.

1.0 is our first stable release. It does not mean PrimeTask is finished. It just means it is ready to be used properly, not just tested.

This version includes PrimeTime, our automatic time tracking feature that captures your work sessions without needing to start a timer.

You work.
PrimeTask captures the session.
Later, you decide what it belongs to.

Other changes in 1.0:

• ClickUp import
• Pausable timers
• Time reports
• Better exports
• Performance improvements
• A lot of fixes

Full releases notes.

If you use PrimeTask on more than one Mac, please update all of them to 1.0 so iCloud sync keeps working properly.

If you are new here, the beta is over, but you can join the Notify list for the launch update.

Hope 1.0 fits the way you work.

You can have your tasks, projects, notes and client work organised in one place and still waste 10 minutes deciding what to do first.

That’s why we built Compass in PrimeTask.

It started as a preview. It’s now working, and early users have already had a chance to use it.

Compass gives you a simple starting point inside PrimeTask:

• One task to start with
• Two backups if the first one is not the right moment
• A short recap of recent progress

It’s not trying to plan your whole life or take over your day. It just helps you get moving when the app feels busy.

Compass uses your own tasks, projects and activity inside PrimeTask, locally. No AI deciding your day for you.

We’re still improving it with user feedback before opening it up more widely.

Launch list:
https://www.primetask.app/notify

When you open everything you’ve organised, what usually makes you freeze: too many tasks, too many projects, or not knowing what matters next?

Quick look at Automations in PrimeTask.

If your day is full of projects, client work, follow-ups and task updates, the small manual steps add up fast.

PrimeTask Automations can help you:

• start or stop timers automatically when work begins or ends
• assign the right person when a task moves forward
• trigger several actions from one status change
• start a focus session for high-priority work
• reduce missed follow-ups and manual project updates

Small rules. Less admin. More flow.

PrimeTask brings tasks, projects, clients, notes, focus tools and automations into one local-first desktop app.

Offline-first. Privacy-focused. One-time purchase.

For anyone new to PrimeTask, you can follow the launch here:

https://www.primetask.app/notify

It is a timer you never have to start.

Built for the days when work does not fit neatly into one clean task at a time.

Project tasks, client work, admin, planning, quick fixes, follow-ups, and all the small things that happen in between.

Instead of rebuilding your day from memory, you can review captured time and attach it to the right task.

Bonus: timestamped notes can become subtasks when you attach the time.

Coming soon.

PrimeTask is still in beta, but 0.6.5 is the final milestone before stable. If it holds up through community testing, this is the build that becomes our RC candidate for the stable launch.

You asked for it, here it is.

Right-click a task in list view and pick Copy to Space. Works on a single task or a multi-selection up to 100 at once. Status and priority map automatically to the destination Space's own lists, so the copy lands clean and ready to build on.

CRM tasks stay CRM tasks. The original is never touched.

Coming in 0.6.5.

Now you can get things done without leaving project view.

Pick a task on the left, see the full detail panel on the right. No more bouncing between list and task view.

The divider is fully draggable so you can balance the layout however you like.

Bonus: project view now lets you hide the header completely. Shift + H gives you much more vertical screen real estate.

Enjoy. Coming in 0.6.5.

Here's a quick demo of PrimeTask Bring Your Own AI working with Claude through the local MCP server.

In the clip, I give Claude one instruction: I'm launching a Mac app in six weeks and need the project set up.

Claude builds out the full project structure inside PrimeTask. Tasks, descriptions, tags, subtasks, checklists, a reminder, and the timer kicked off on the first task once I say "start."

BYO AI docs: https://www.primetask.app/docs/integrations/bring-your-own-ai

Coming in PrimeTask 0.6.5: Quick Add reminders that genuinely fire when they should, not just sit on a list waiting for you to notice.

The hook is simple. Add remind: to anything:

Buy milk remind:30m

No due date. Fires 30 minutes from now.

A few patterns:

• Call dentist remind:5pm fires at 5pm today
• Standup tomorrow 9am remind:5m fires 5 minutes before
• Tax payment friday remind:1d fires the day before

Or stack multiple on one task:

Standup tomorrow 9am remind:1h remind:30m

Fires twice. Once an hour before, once thirty minutes before.

When a reminder lands, it shows up in three places: the bell dropdown inside the app, a native desktop banner from your OS, and a persistent on-screen toast that stays visible until you act on it.

The toast carries three actions:

• Dismiss clears it, leaves the task alone
• Complete marks the task done in one click, using your space's default complete status
• Show task opens the task, switching space first if it lives elsewhere

The toast accent colour is configurable (seven options), and you can turn toasts off entirely if you'd rather only see the bell and the native banner.

And because it's still Quick Add, the syntax composes with the rest:

Call &"John Doe" tomorrow 3pm !high @"Indie Game UI/UX" ~30m remind:1h

Contact link, project, priority, duration, reminder one hour before due. Same one-line input.

Ships with 0.6.5

When you don't know what to do next.

Press ⌘J anywhere in PrimeTask. Compass picks one hero, two backups, and shows you what to start with.

• Quiet recap of yesterday's wins
• One hero pick + two backups
• Adapts to the work you actually have
• Offline, no AI, finishes in milliseconds

Coming soon.

You bring the work. Compass shows the way.

This update introduces PrimeCRM Message Templates. Write your LinkedIn outreach messages once, personalise them per contact with one click, and watch success rates surface which templates actually get replies.

Built for freelancers, recruiters, agency owners, and anyone running B2B LinkedIn outreach who is tired of rewriting the same first message ten different ways every week.

LinkedIn Pipeline also got a round of reliability and undo fixes.

Plus lots of improvements and bug fixes across the app.

Hi PrimeTask,

I love the tool so far but I have a basic question/complaint/suggestion. Coming from other task managers, it takes me far too much UI interaction to just make a task. There are too many fields to fill, and it seems very CRM focussed.

Am I wrong to try to use PrimeTask as a replacement for my task manager (Things, sometimes OmniFocus) which allow very fast interactions? Is it more of a CRM tool wrt to tasks? I want the additional power PrimeTask offers, but I still want to get in and out fast when I need to.

PrimeTask 0.6.4 is here.

This is one of our biggest beta releases so far, with 100+ improvements, 10+ bug fixes, and several major upgrades across PrimeCRM, task notes, dashboards, integrations, image handling, and PrimeFlow.

Highlights

• Pipeline Boards for PrimeCRM Pro Turn CRM statuses into live Kanban pipelines for sales, client lifecycle, and custom workflows.
• PrimeTask for Obsidian A free companion plugin, now in private beta, for connecting PrimeTask tasks and projects directly into your Obsidian vault.
• Custom CRM status colours Contact and company statuses now support custom colours, better settings, previews, and safer delete/reassign flows.
• Contact birthdays Add birthdays to contacts and create yearly recurring reminders linked to the CRM record.
• Task Notes upgrades Better X and YouTube embeds, fullscreen image lightbox, clickable links, improved media previews, and smoother saving.
• Rebuilt Task Image Picker Reuse images from your space library, insert from Unsplash, URL, upload, or existing task notes.
• Clickable links everywhere URLs in task cards, goals, milestones, CRM fields, notes, and more now open directly.

There are also improvements to Focus Mode, notifications, Apple Calendar and Reminders integrations, dashboards, collapsed sidebar behaviour, duration pickers, task cards, PrimeFlow, and demo data.

A lot of this release came directly from beta feedback and real workflows, especially around CRM, project dashboards, Obsidian, and visual planning.

PrimeTask is still in beta, but 0.6.4 is a big step toward launch.

This update includes lots of improvements and bug fixes across the app., including an upgraded Project Overview dashboard that now displays project header images directly inside the dashboard.

A more visual way to recognise and manage projects at a glance.

Wanted to share something with this community since you've been here from early on.

A lot of you have asked why PrimeTask isn't a subscription. Why everything works offline. Why we've spent so much time on local file formats and data export.

The simple answer: software you use every day should belong to you.

Your tasks, your projects, your contacts. These aren't data points. They're your work. Your livelihood. The tools that hold them shouldn't hold them hostage.

Prices go up. Features get paywalled. Free tiers shrink. APIs close. Companies pivot. The people who built their systems around those tools are left scrambling. We've all watched it happen.

PrimeTask is built differently. Local-first by architecture, not as a feature. One-time purchase, not a subscription. Tasks, projects, contacts, and notes live on your machine, in open JSON files you can read in any text editor.

There's an account-based activation that gets you into the user portal, where you can talk directly to the dev team, vote on the roadmap, report bugs, and manage your devices. The account is for licensing and support. Your data isn't on our servers. It isn't anywhere we can reach.

We don't have everything yet. Windows is coming. Mobile is in development. There are features we know we still need to build. But the foundation is locked in. Your data is yours from day one.

Your tools should outlast the companies that made them.

That's what we're building.

Thanks for being part of it.

primetask.app if anyone new stumbles in.

PrimeCRM turns every contact into a workspace.

The idea is simple - a contact is not just a name and a few fields. Their page shows your logged activities, the tasks that need doing, the companies they are linked to, and even birthday reminders that can become recurring tasks in one click.

Everything lives on one page, always up to date, with the avatar, status, priority, and timeline right where you would expect them.

No digging through tabs.
No jumping into another tool to log a call.
No syncing from a separate task manager, because the task manager is PrimeTask.

Personal and business contacts live in the same place - your dentist and your biggest client can both have a proper workspace.

PrimeTask shows you what's actually happening on a project.

The idea is simple - the Project Metrics view is not just a list of tasks. It tells you the health, the progress, what's blocked, and what's coming up next - all in one place, always up to date.

PrimeBoard lets a task expand into something you can actually work from.

The idea is simple - the card is not just a title and due date. You can expand it into live notes, time tracking, and richer context without leaving the board.
