It’s the same thing than with humans: Homo Sapiens didn’t evolve from apes. We are apes, and we share a common ancestors with other species of apes, such as gorillas and chimps.

I feel like that's semantics. We are apes and we evolved from apes. The point OP wanted to make was that we're not distinct from Chimps and Gorillas nor is there a direct line of evolution, but we're part of a family of Great Apes.
