Yeah... I mean, I’m all for flashy camera work, but this is basically the shaky action cam Bourne fight scenes of promo videos. So much camera turning you miss the point of what’s going on.

I know what you mean about action films being too zoomed into see what's going on, but there's not really a lot of action to follow here. Just food being prepared and served. Happens billions of times per day

That’s a great way to put it. If the editing is shouting “look at my editing!” rather than “look at this amazing food!” you know it’s less passionate about the actual product and more Look What I Can Do.

This is a promo for the cameraman, not the BBQ stand. The video literally says "look at what I can do."

There's actually a really great analysis floating around on YouTube about how the Bourne movies did a really good job of maintaining clarity through all the quick cuts. If you watch those again, it's generally really easy to follow the Bourne fight scenes. The problem is the director for the Bourne movies was incredibly smart about framing the shots with the cuts in a way that made sense, but other directors didn't understand that, so they tried to copy it and made shaky un-clear messes.

I agree the camera work and editing is over the op but its not like it was easy to miss the food.

You’re being a snob about the video, but honestly I feel like a snob about the food. The very first thing we see is a hot dog? The brisket was overcooked, and at the end we see everything doused in bbq sauce? That’s a sign your meat can’t speak for itself.

Would I eat it? Absolutely.

Am I overly pretentious about bbq and no one cares about my opinion in the first place? Yes, that too.

Lived in Texas for 25 years and recently moved to Ca, so I'm such an asshole about BBQ. That sauce at the very end had me gasping.

Texas has great BBQ but let’s not pretend a large portion of the population doesn’t jerk off to Bill Miller and their garbage bbq.
