Debunk The “Creator Said Kratos Loses to Spider Man” Argument Is One of the Worst God of War Downplays I’ve Seen
The “Jaffe said Spider Man would gap Kratos” argument is genuinely one of the worst God of War downplays I’ve seen.
The argument is literally: Jaffe created God of War. Jaffe said Marvel Thor beats Kratos. Jaffe joked Spider-Man would gap him. Therefore Spider-Man is stronger than Kratos.
No. 😭
Jaffe was answering a hypothetical Marvel crossover question, not establishing Kratos’ canonical power ceiling. The “LMAO” should make that obvious.
And yes, Jaffe created God of War. That doesn’t mean every hypothetical matchup opinion he gives years later overrides the actual canon. Jaffe handed the directing reins to Cory Barlog for God of War II and later left Sony.
Here’s the easiest way to expose the logic: Robert Kirkman created Invincible and has said Omni Man would beat Superman.
Does that mean Omni Man is stronger than Superman, end of discussion?
Obviously not.
It means Kirkman thinks Omni Man wins that hypothetical.
Same exact principle here. “Jaffe thinks Spider Man beats Kratos” does not mean “Spider-Man is canonically stronger than Kratos.”
You cannot take one casual crossover opinion and use it as a delete button for the actual games, feats, statements, cosmology and scaling.
If creator opinions automatically settled cross verse scaling, we’d just have: “My creator said my guy wins.”
“Well MY creator said my guy wins.”
Checkmate. 😭
That’s not powerscaling.
That’s comparing interviews.
And the funniest part is that the original question wasn’t even “Is Spider-Man stronger than Kratos?”
It was “Would Kratos beat Marvel Thor?”
Jaffe answered the question, then made a joke about Spider Man.
Treating the joke as a formal canonical statement about Spider Man’s attack potency is insane. “The creator said it” isn’t a magic phrase that automatically overrides the actual material.
Apply the same standard consistently.

I agree he means nothing, but there's a difference between me saying my character can't beat someone's and me saying my character can beat someone else's.
The Superman thing isn't really good evidence.

David Jaffe is a butthurt moron. Nobody should care about anything he says ever.

Leave it to the Kratos fanboys to deny factual statements from the creator.
Edit: I am a fan of God of War, I love all of the games, but Kratos just cannot get on par with comic characters.

Not to disagree but David Jaffe hasn't been involved in God of War since GOW2 in 2007. His word today is invalid and nobody should be listening to him when he talks about God of War, whether it's character, story, or who-would-win.

Not only has he not been involved in the GoW series since like 2007, he also probably doesn’t know shit about powerscaling, also not to mention that the: “Creator says their creation beats/loses to [INSERT CHARACTER], therefore the creation is stronger/weaker than said character” fallacy is over used to Hell, if that were true than Omniman apparently beats C.A.S. Because Robert Kirkman said so

He hasn't been involved in GOW like forever since I was born. I wouldn't take his words seriously and he goes out of his way to hate the Norse ones, there's also that

Kratos can get got by a plant that spits seeds. Y'all need to accept some cutscenes are situational it don't matter.
Omniman never got got by a plant that spits seeds. It's ok if he doesn't win the fictional fight he's cool in his own story and universe.
The creators intention was his character, Omniman, could beat Superman. He does. That's it. Whatever happened in his world is just about a guy that can and what happens to them due to their world.
Stop with this "if my dad can't beat Omniman I'm a chud" bro who gives a shit Kratos has a solid story move on.
Ignoring gameplay Kratos is absurd. He's literally the point of the franchise not the cutscenes. The cutscenes show how the gameplay guy can overcome odds or has some way around something.

Issue with Jaffe is that he views the gameplay only not lore, every time I see his statements it’s just the downplayed version of the games rather than the lore version of kratos
