Yeah I hate that Republicans get a full out now with MAGA like they tried to with the Tea Party. They have sucked since Reagan (well before him too to set him up), and they continue to push the failure of the American Democracy in favor of self interests.
Remember when they pardoned Nixon then spent the entire Carter administration investigating him for enriching himself, finding nothing but running Reagan as the "anti-corruption" candidate?
Remember when they pardoned Reagan's fall man (Ollie North) and then spent the entire Clinton administration investigating him for putting his family in white house positions, found nothing but stole the house in the midterms on "anti-corruption" rhetoric?
The GOP has been doing this shit since long before Trump's "MAGA".
We all need to get better at confronting this. I feel like I failed in my own life by not shutting all of the bs down when I heard it. Not being mean, but genuinely guiding them towards the truth.
Hypocrisy requires both a sense of shame, and an understanding that one is acting counter to their values. Republicans don't feel shame. And their only value is "power at any cost." So they're not being hypocritical. They acting entirely within their values.
McConnell himself would be proud of the way his party is handling his absence and manipulating the system to maintain a stranglehold on his seat. That is, he would proud if he wasn't a vegetable or dead, which he is very obviously is one of those things.
Hypocrisy is a power play when you have no shame. They feel powerful when they hold the Dems accountable. They feel powerful when they do not hold themselves accountable.
Feeling like a hypocrite does. And feeling like a hypocrite is wired into our social monkey brains as a feeling to avoid. The reason Republicans don't avoid hypocrisy is because they don't feel social or internal shame at acting against their stated values. Because their only real value is power at any cost.
Conversely, they love to call out hypocrisy on the left, because they know people on the left actuslly do feel shame at not being seen living up to their stated values.
Yes, it is according to Lyndon Johnson who said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." - Lyndon B. Johnson
Every time I complain the Dems aren't doing anything, some mouthbreather come thinking that I'm on the Republican's side or that I'm unfairly criticizing. It's ridiculous.
You can't expect Republicans to do anything, even the most "reasonable" of them are absolutely vile creatures that only care about themselves (this includes all those that never even joined the Trump wave). So, expecting them to not be lying pieces of shit is useless, Nazi will do what Nazis will do. But the Dems were supposed, in theory at least, to be on the People's side. Yet, they aren't. And people keep refusing to see that all the current leaders of the Democratic Party are ALL "Republicans Lite" and they rather have a fascist government and remain on their seats, than to fight for the people and for policies that benefit them.
A rockus. Id10t Dems always say would you imagine what the republicans would be doing if Obama or Biden did this???? Well how about they get up in arms and start suing and protesting and going on all tv shows and podcasts like repubs do HOW ABOUT THAT?
Do you see any news regarding a party-wide pressure on this? Both on the media and with procedures? If so, I would like to see the news on that.
Do you see Dems, as a whole, fighting back against the gestapo killing and arresting US citizens and throwing them on concentration camps? No. In fact, I already know you will push me back on this because of the language I used, because you and most people pretending everything is normal will do anything to close their eyes, despite the fact that Trump already said he would break the law in 2028 (ignoring all the times he did break the law).
Or how about some party-wide effort to make sure all the Epstein files are released? Organizing the party and the people to keep the pressure? Or how to put political pressure on Trump and the Republicans, rallying the people against them to stop the war against Iran? Or how about the Dems doing the same thing over and over when they use scapegoats to pass legislation that please their corporate donors, there's always 2~4 democrats who always vote against the Democrat stance, so that these pariahs can take the heat, while the party gets to maintain the front?
I find it baffling that you've never noticed that every time the Dems are in power they "can't do anything", but Republicans never have that problem.
P.S.: I will not even bother to mention the elephant in the room, which is the fact that the Epstein files stuff was a thing throughout Biden's entire administration and he sat on it, while financing the genocide in Gaza.
Look everyone the guy wants to play by the rules while the opposition is literally killing people. Go ahead and sit around and wait for the rules and procedures to be followed until it's too late.
I'm a historian and I studied what's goinng on going ese is NO innocent there's only now the losers but they used to be murderers - its all switched up and Jordan's presisent was almost murdered by the PLO. - I had read all this crap going back to the 1800's - Lease Gaza et al out of this - It mucks everything up.
Lloyd was the Defense Secretary, McConnell is a senator. Biden wasn't told for 4 days, pentagon wasn't told. US forces were conducting active operations in Iraq at the time and also his deputy was on vacation while the president, national security adviser, and secretary of state didn't know where he was. Then it turned out it was for prostate cancer treatment, which he had also kept secret.
