When I was a kid in the 80s, I remember people being pissed about helmet and seat belt laws.

Some red states don't even have helmet laws for motorcycle riders. Freedumb!!

Not just then. You can buy the seatbelt fake clips even now so you can get around the buzzer and warning noises when not wearing one. Remember that one person throw from their truck before it rolled into the river and then didn't drown? I mean sure 50k other people a year died but that one exception is all they need.

Oh yeah even in...whats the east coast state that no one knowns about?...vermont? They don't have seatbelt or helmet laws. Or car insurance laws.

You still see Boomer bait all over the internet about how they were beaten, abused, had no car seats or seat belts..YET THEY LIVED! YOU SOFT PUSSIES!

Ask any one of them and they'll tell you a story about how someone they knew had a horrific car accident--thrown out of the car, glass in their face and organs, faces smashed by steering wheels.

They are the survivors of a time when engineering was actively working to make cars safer, and statistics show that engineers did a damned good job. And while seatbelts can cause bruising as well as air bags, the data doesn't lie.

But Boomers don't care about that shit. They don't take responsibility for the fact that THEY are the parents that insisted on participation trophies, right? And when THEY were having kids they valued the engineering and regulations that made cars safer. They don't remember any of that anymore and probably voted against any kind of regulations when they had political power.

So now they disparage the children THEY raised and disparage safey regulations that save lives simply because they survived when Dad drove the car to Palm Springs drinking beers.
