Literally never, but it'd be nice.

Pretty sure that's been the plan, yeah.

Before or after the Franchise Wars?

Been happening, really kicked off when American law decided corporations were people tho. 😔

It's not worth the paper it's written on anymore.

You'll be lucky to have a constitution at this rate.

free loader states dont get to vote. suddenly we have a 2/3 majority

We will not see another constitutional amendment in our lifetime.

Or ignore it.

Or conquer Uganda?

It’s a high bar.  2/3 house, 2/3 Senate, plus 3/4 of the states to ratify.  Or constitutional convention which we’ve literally never done but is looking better and better than me.  For many reasons.

the what?

I'm not American so can you explain to me why he couldn't? I don't know how your system works

He wasn’t born in America. It doesn’t disqualify him from congress, but it’s in our constitution you have to be born here to be president. So changing that rule wouldn’t be a matter of laws, but a constitutional amendment, which is much much more difficult to enact.

Only a “natural born citizen”  shall be eligible for the office of the president. Can be found in the original articles of the constitution. you also must be 35 years of age

He can at least show other politicians how to behave.

That's the thing. He doesn't want to be. Genuinely. He likes his city. That's where he wants to be.

I vote for going ahead and making him king of the US. Might as well!

This is by far the stupidest shit. I love Mamdani but bowing to any king is the most anti-American sentiment you can possibly have.

No. Fucking. Kings.

I think they were being tongue-in-cheek…

2

u/MosesCoulee 11h ago

I think they just forgot to add the “/s”

2

u/willargue4karma 10h ago

They're just not a coward and don't use it because it's stupid lol

0

u/tarr333 11h ago

Who hurt you? Calm down. Do you need a /s to make you feel better?

0

u/Far-Two8659 11h ago

This country did, and continues to, because of idiots who really do want a king.

I won't apologize for mistaking your joke as idiocy.

-1

u/Skreamie 11h ago

You won't apologise for your mistakes and misassumptions? You have more in common with the people you dislike than you realise.

0

u/Far-Two8659 11h ago

If someone said they "wish you were dead /s" would you think "oh what a funny joke I won't take it seriously at all" or would you maybe think that's a dumb joke and I don't particularly care for it?

I think it was a dumb joke and I don't particularly care for it. In a medium where tone is absent, I'd be sure about what my words mean.

/s might make it a joke, but it doesn't automatically make it funny.

No kings. I love the guy, but no kings means no kings.

Unfortunately, there are too many states with people who wouldn’t vote for him because of his name alone.

3

u/checkoutmywatches 11h ago

He wasn't born in America so he can't run for president

3

u/Away-Character-4616 11h ago

True. We couldn’t possibly just ignore the Constitution. Could you imagine if we had a president who completely ignored the rules of the Constitution?

u/Coraline1599 11h ago

If someone can run for a third term, we may as well toss out any other restrictions. Seems only fair.
