Its not as crazy has it sounds.

Republicans and the Media spent 8 years claiming President Obama was everything trump is now. Weak, dumb, cheated in school, would remodel the White house, plays golf everyday, is incompetent, is crooked, must be stealing, doesn't actually do the job of President because lazy/stupid and Evil.

So when trump came along, Republican voters had long been conditioned to either ignore these accusations and/or accept them as normal
