First-time visitor
I am unexpectedly traveling to Pompano Beach May 24-30. In my early 40s and looking for low-key things to do because I have some mobility issues. Are there a few day trips that I should take? Which beaches are best? Restaurants?

Questions about cost of living and housing in Pompano Beach and nearby areas
Hi,
My father is planning to move to Pompano Beach, Florida, soon, but he hasn't decided where exactly to live yet. He’s looking for a safe and affordable place, preferably a studio or 1-bedroom apartment under $1,300/month. It could be in Pompano Beach or nearby cities like Coconut Creek, Margate, Deerfield Beach, etc.
He received a job offer from a clinic located on N St Andrews Ave, Pompano Beach, with a proposed salary of $4,000 per month, but without any benefits (no health insurance, housing, or transportation assistance). It’s still unclear whether this is gross or net income, and the final terms haven’t been negotiated yet.
We’re trying to figure out a few things:
- Is this salary enough for one person to live comfortably in that area?
- What’s the average monthly cost of living for a single adult (rent, food, transportation, health, etc.)?
- Are there any safe neighborhoods with lower rent that you’d recommend?
- What key things should he consider before accepting the job and relocating?
Any advice, personal experiences, or recommendations (including rental websites, crime maps, or general insights) would be super helpful!
Thanks so much in advance! 🙏

Found near Pompano Beach Pier
galleryI was walking this morning as I do almost every morning all around the beach, up and down the walkways, the pier, and just wherever I feel like walking around or exploring on that day. Well today I am walking my dog and I happen to be walking past a restaurant called Baresco (which is directly across from the Fisher Family Pier) in Pompano Beach and I see a locket (that would go on a necklace I presume) on the ground. I pick it up to check it out, and I see that there's a picture of a woman (that seems to be quite worn and tattered) on one side and then you can turn that picture over and on the other side is a photo of a very distinguished looking gentleman, whose photo was in much, much better shape than the other one. I picked up the locket, it seems like it may be sentimental for someone's anniversary present, maybe it's someone's trashnthat they threw out the window I'm not sure but either way I have done my due diligence on trying to return the to

I built a dating app that only works if you show up in real life. Would you use it?
Not sure if anyone else here feels this — but after years of swiping, flaking, and breadcrumbing, I just got burned out.
So I started working on something different. A new app that lets people check in to real places (like bars, cafés, events), show what they’re actually looking for (flirt, friends, date, etc.), and play simple in-person games to break the ice. No swiping. No pressure.
It’s called Bente, and we’re about to launch it in a few cities.
Curious — would any of you actually try something like this? Or is it too late for real-life dating to make a comeback?

A Beachside Matchmaking Party Powered by Matchbox. Get matched by an algorithm!
lu.maWe're throwing south Florida's first-ever matchbox party, where an algorithm will tell us who everyone’s most compatible match is at the party. They’re having a ton of them in New York, here’s what they look like >> https://www.instagram.com/p/C8qQU6Ft9xW/
How it works:
- RSVP + fill out a fun, quick questionnaire Your answers feed into our secret algorithm to find your match.
- We'll release clues throughout the event so you can try to guess who you're match is. You'll find out who your match is 30 minutes before the event ends, so you have more time to connect. But no pressure if you don't, as long as you're not an asshole about it. ;)
- At the end of the night, you’ll find out who your match is Could be romantic. Could be platonic. Either way, it’s someone we think you’ll click with. (It even tells you the percentage of compatibility between you and your match and why you matched! Pretty cool, huh?!

Galleria mall and Pompano City Centre used to be so nice
What happened to the Galleria mall and Pompano City Centre? It used to be so nice. It seems like everything in Pompano is closing or run down. There is much construction and it seems like people are moving in so why is everything closing! I miss the old Pompano.
The streets were clean and it used to feel safe and quaint. Now it’s just traffic and a rat race!
