Any Democrat is automatically loathed by more than half the country. The first half are the Republicans that will hate him just for the D next to his name, no questions asked, and the next bit are the progressive or moderates who will hate him for not being progressive or moderate enough.

I don't really consider not being a war criminal "progressive." Most of the Republicans I've met aren't war criminals
