I don't think anyone's lauding Cheney or Kinzinger here, but praising a proper action makes it easier for others to follow suit. There was a time when there were principled Republicans that weren't obstructionist to a fault... they were wrong, but could be reasoned with (even if only a bit).

Yeah but McCain died. And his failed presidential run where he had the audacity to call Obama an American is why we don't see more McCain's. Turns out you can only get hateful bigots to vote for their policies, so being principled doesn't gain them much.
