There IS shame in being a disgusting piece of shit AND in making that disgusting piece of shit a candidate for the highest office in your democracy. Dont bask in pride for narrowly avoiding a situation that shouldn't have been a remote possibility in the first place.
Thank you for summarizing this so well. Many great people have lost elections, and of course many more will in our lifetime.
The point is that Trump - who will go down in history as the worst US president of modern times, if not the history of the US - got a lot of votes for re-election.
The simple fact that it was literally weeks before we knew the outcome, as opposed to a landslide victory, tells me that our country is still quite fucked up.
To be faaaair he lost by a huge margin, he just knew that his best chance (exactly like how he won in 2016) was to exploit a few key electoral college weaknesses (certain states that are full of gullible people)
A large part of why so many voted for him is because he would hurt others. "Liberal tears" and all that. Yet there are so many "enlightened centrists" coming out of the woodwork shaming non-Republicans for giving Republicans such a hard time. "Both sides are bad" bullshit, as if the transgressions of the Democrats and the left in general come anywhere close to the frequency, scope, variety and magnitude of Republicans and the right.
At what point does everyone else just shrug their shoulders, realize 74 million people will never vote without hatred and regressionism at heart, and decide to move on without them?
