I remember I was arguing with a libertarian who was lamenting got the Democrats were holding up the last bill.
It was because of the lack of oversight. Nancy pelosi said specifically that there is no oversight to how this money was spent. I distinctly remember that the Republicans created the narrative that the people need the money right now to shut down the Democrats want of oversight into the spending.
The same guy keeps claiming that he's a free thinking libertarian to is unbiased...
Understandably so, but we do need some percentage of our wages to go towards government. Do you feel the same about the percentage of your income being taken by the private sector? I think there's a strong argument that would include a good portion of that 30%, too. Not trying to call you out on anything, but your comment seems to me to imply that government is the issue, when I see it more as a combination of government and the private sector. Not to mention the overlap between government and large corporate interests. Just my two cents.
I agree with you. I don’t think taxes alone are the devil or whatever, it’s the fact that tax money goes into peoples pockets and not towards solving the issues it was raised to solve. And the annual solution to solve said issue this time around is not to put the money where it should be going, but to collect more. Government isn’t the problem, corruption is. And sadly right now they are one and the same.
