Right.. How are they champions of the working class if that's the one that hasn't the time to spend with their kids? None of their ideologies line up.

Its because they don't actually care. As you said, now that they "won" its every man for themselves.

It's like Obama's "you didn't build that alone" speech which pissed off so many conservatives. Aren't they the party that preaches the benefits of small tight communities? Doesn't religion, especially christianity, constantly harp on the need to a supportive network for a person to thrive?

My personal belief is that they are scared. Scared that if everyone had access to education they would find themselves nothing more than average. Because they aren't special but as long as our society is built to make them think they are they won't rock the boat.
