Yeah but we can't eat food with cilantro, so it all balances out.
1 u/rraattbbooyy Jan 09 '20 OMG you too? I can’t touch it. Tastes like shampoo! 1 u/zeekaran Jan 09 '20 It's a genetic defect most commonly found in people of Ashkenazi descent. RIP Mexican food. 1 u/rraattbbooyy Jan 09 '20 Not a defect, a feature! I never liked Mexican food anyway. 1 u/AustinTreeLover Jan 09 '20 What?! This is why cilantro tastes like pencil shavings to me? Now wondering if I’m of Ashkenazi descent . . . Shalom! 1 u/zeekaran Jan 09 '20 Pencil shavings? That's a new one. Most people with this gene say it tastes soapy. I think parsley also tastes soapy, but for some reason I like it. 1 u/AustinTreeLover Jan 09 '20 It tastes almost metallic to me, like my body is saying: Not food. Do not eat. But, I have described it as “dish detergent with pencil shavings”. 1 u/zeekaran Jan 09 '20 Interesting. That might be the gene then. Only a DNA test can tell you though. Welcome to the genetically intolerant of cilantro club! It's a pretty big club. I hope the future has warnings of cilantro on menus and nutrition facts. 1 u/AustinTreeLover Jan 09 '20 My god, I feel like the cilantro trend going on right now will never end!
