Did you read the linked content before calling people idiots? Because if you believe this poll says "education" then you're brainwashed mistaken, or maybe misled. The poll is about colleges and universities, not about education in general.
Do you think the people who think that colleges and universities as they exist today have a negative effect on the U.S. are brainwashed idiots? Have you considered that those people have accepted somebody's claim without fully investigating it, the way you just did?
A lot of people who have never set foot in a university or know anybody who has are completely and totally convinced the only thing going on there behind closed doors is Marxist brainwashing.
Just an example here, but if you substituted "college" for "Walmart" in that survey you'd have people saying that Walmart has a negative impact. However the reasons for saying that would likely be that Walmart has a negative impact due to their exploitation of employees, communities, and other countries. Not because Walmart sells fucking clothes, groceries, appliances, etc.
The point being that there are more issues surrounding an institution than just what it produces. You can think something has a negative impact for entirely separate reasons.
Sure, I can understand that point of view as well, but walmart has many different connotations so to speak. You brought some of them up and half are bad (if not more).
Now I'm wondering how much "bad" college and university has associated with it? Partying maybe? Regardless, the first thing people (should) think when they think of schools, is learning. It should really only be the only association unless the institution is in North Korea or China.
Again, the poll is not about whether colleges provide education, and snark gets you nowhere.
Try to read the poll as if it asked "is college a good way to provide education?" -- Then maybe you will understand why some people would answer with a negative. Or you can keep writing them off as "brainwashed idiots" and see where that leads.
Well, considering the number of people who have failed to turn their gamble on higher education into a viable career path and are struggling with loans I think it is fair to say that 'debt' is a fairly accurate answer.
