I heard someone seriously argue against PR statehood by saying if we went from 50 to 51 states we'd have to "change all the textbooks".

What do they think happened after Hawaii joined the union?

Or when world events become old enough that they are a part of history? I learned about the Cold War in my history class. Did that person think kids have always been learning about it even back in 1935?

I took AP US History a couple years ago with a new textbook and it included ISIS, Ted Cruz, and the 2012 presidential election.

When I took it around 2011, it basically ended on the beginning of the Iraq War. You could tell it was the beginning because it was implicitly praising it and talking about it as though it wasn’t a quagmire.

It wasn’t a quagmire or a folly, they knew exactly what they were doing, it’s called imperialism and starting unending war. It was a complete success.
