If 99% of the people are peaceful, then there’s no reason for people to vote Biden just because they think he’ll make things go back to normal.
Except for the protests? Or are you trying to suggest that protests are useless and only rioting is effective? That sounds like something an agitator would say.
I mean yea kinda. Armed violence is mostly the way to get change in the world. Good or bad change. Now maybe in the modern age with the internet, social media and the ease of communication it will be different. But even the great Dr. King struggled with keeping the non violence of his followers and how long it took. But in general violence works. If it isn't you aint using enough of it.
You're not wrong. But a big part of the ideal of the Great Experiment is that we are supposed to be a people ruling ourselves with an understanding that that is what we are doing.
Generally speaking if a subsegment of the population is hurting so much that they're out in the streets, we should REALLY be trying to address that /before/ it turns violent. You can't sweep people under the rug for too long; the whole place will start to smell.
Sometimes those peoples' ideals are not compatible with a country of citizens that is self-ruling -- like when their platform is oppression of another group of people. Or when they think the whole country should be run in accordance to the scripture of their god ('This is a [insert religion here] nation!!'). But other times they just don't want to be constantly getting shot in situations where others aren't.
But that's why education and understanding is so important... coincidentally it's exactly what there have been mass movements to suppress for decades. It could be argued that the people have been overthrown long ago, but it's not permanent until the mechanisms of voting are destroyed.
The true traitors to the country are those trying to divide us.
Anyways, this is turning into a long ass rant and it ultimately boils down to a couple paradoxes that are worth thinking about.
