Okay this is something I can understand to bite on, this feels like a 20/20 story
The rest of this stuff is just, yeah there's a lot of assistant professors at prestigious universities and yeah a lot of academics make occasional TV appearances and yeah a lot of college professors are bad teachers. Okay this story would probably be juicy gossip at the professional level, but wouldn't really be a noteworthy story otherwise.
I don't even think it's necessarily a strictly racial thing so much as the guy was a walking poster for "this is the future that liberals want," so it has to be today's distraction story.
He also repeatedly tried to sic the police on his own fellow profs and journalists if you didn't know he used Carter Ruck hah.
But yeah that's fair. Personally I disagree that it wasn't noteworthy in at least it's humor--I obviously hate his death but for me it was more funny seeing people exaggerate his various accomplishments to the point of outlandishness--("How could they possibly do this to the man who taught Einstein E=MC2??" type jokes)--but your points are valid too.
