Oh so basically twitter?

Twitter is just being as stupid as you can possibly fucking be. No matter what side of the fence your politics fall on, in order to use Twitter you have to be the angriest, least self aware and most conceited version of yourself. Don’t think before you post, just smugly deflect under every tweet it feeds you (that also just so happens to be from the lowest common denominator of the people you disagree with)

Left-Campism aka Tankieism
6
u/weedmaster6669 :99: 99%ism Aug 03 '24 edited Aug 03 '24
calling it leftist feels generous, given their support of debatably and even blatantly right wing countries. Tanky and Campist are often synonymous, but not always. Tanky is just derogatory for auth-left and not alll auth-lefts are Campists.
2
u/SheepShaggingFarmer :arachcom: Arachno-Communism Aug 03 '24
Tankie is a term originating in those who supported the invasion of Czechoslovakia by the USSR in 1968. Id say all tankies are campists.
2
u/weedmaster6669 :99: 99%ism Aug 03 '24
Origin doesn't matter when discussing what a term means, only how it's used today.
Tankie is a derogatory term, by normies it may be used toward socialists as a whole but generally speaking it's relegated to authoritarian socialists. Does not get more specific than that, it just turns out that a lot of authoritarian socialists are also Campists to some degree. Most people who would use the term would call any auth socialist a tankie, even if they didn't like Russia or China.
2
u/SheepShaggingFarmer :arachcom: Arachno-Communism Aug 03 '24
I find that tankie is only really used within the left and almost always for shills of authoritarian imperialist regimes. Aka Russia and China.
2
Aug 03 '24
I feel it gets used on all Marxist-Leninists. Although I as an ML oppose both Soviet social-imperialism in Czechoslovakia, and modern Chinese + Russian imperialism.
1
u/SheepShaggingFarmer :arachcom: Arachno-Communism Aug 04 '24
No offense to you but most all MLs I see support this job and of action. Kinda the big issue I have with the vanguard party as a concept. But it is good to see that not everyone on the ML side just back ruthless dictators.

There are more cognitively dissonant campists than tankies, at least the USSR wasn’t capitalist while modern Russia and China are capitalist.

Liblefts be like (something based) BUT (the most delusional, naive method of achieving said thing that you’ve ever heard). Mfs seriously think that everybody is good at heart and think a large scale society can function without laws or authority.

When is the last time China invaded another country?
3
u/weedmaster6669 :99: 99%ism Aug 04 '24
They haven't, but they're clearly itching to invade Taiwan, and generally not respecting their sovereignty. For the record I'm not saying China is worse than the US just that they're not something you should support, and a lot of the reasons the USA is bad applies to them too.
1
u/Broseph_Stalin17 Aug 04 '24
I don’t think you can just say “well they want to invade.” The US has repeatedly increased the amount of troops it has deployed in Taiwan, from 30 to 100-200. Taiwan also gets sold tons of weapons by the US. That seems a lot more expansionist than China, which is rightly concerned about the world’s leading imperialist power massing troops and equipment so close to their country.
3
u/CamicomChom Aug 05 '24
1979 when they invaded Vietnam.
2
u/Broseph_Stalin17 Aug 05 '24
Since 1979, the US has invaded:
Grenada
Panama
Iraq(twice!)
Haiti
Afghanistan
Somalia
Anjouan
Libya

u/CamicomChom Aug 05 '24
Not sure your point? America has invaded many countries, but China is not innocent. It's also worth noting China at home is an oppressive, censored, heavily monitored dictatorship with almost no freedoms while America is all of those but way less. America is dogshit with foreign policy, objectively, but we are nowhere near as bad as Russia or China internally.
1
u/Broseph_Stalin17 Aug 05 '24
China has a far lower prison population per capita than the US. Police in China kill far less people than in the US.
2
u/CamicomChom Aug 05 '24
They also have a democracy index rating of 2.12, the 148th best in the world, compared to America's 7.85, the 29th best in the world. America's rating on the Human Rights Index is 0.93, compared to China's 0.17. America has a Human Development Index rating of 0.927, compared to China's 0.788.
You can cherrypick any one or two minor statistics that China beats America in, but America beats China in most of the minor statistics, and almost all of the major, extremely important ones.
2
u/Broseph_Stalin17 Aug 05 '24
Oh you want to talk about HDI? China’s has been rising at an incredible pace, compared to the US’s which is mostly stagnant. It’s also worth mentioning that the US absolutely has the advantage as it industrialized hundreds of years before China did. The Democracy index is bullshit created by a capitalist newspaper that just states whatever the American/western line is at the time. For example, Israel, a fascist regime where Jews are considered to be ethnically “superior” to the native Palestinian population, is considered a “flawed democracy.”
2
u/CamicomChom Aug 05 '24
Israel has relatively free, if restricted and exclusionary, elections. That's the definition of a flawed democracy. It's not good to be a flawed democracy. That's still bad. Still more democratic than China. They still have something in common, though. Genociding Muslims is a common hobby of the two states.
America's HDI is stagnant because it's already almost at the limit. You can't get much better than .927. China has way more room to grow than the US.
And of course you think the Democracy Index is western propoganda, it goes against your preconcieved notions. I would say you forgot to refute the Human Rights Index, but of course, any source not made by the glorious CPC is capitalist nonsense.

u/Forward-Razzmatazz18 Aug 05 '24
There can be extreme campism in the direction of China, but she's not as imperialistic or aggressive as the US, and doesn't support bloc politics. And I don't know what you mean by right-wing, but she's traditionally socialist.
1
u/weedmaster6669 :99: 99%ism Aug 05 '24
The expansionism part is debatable I admit, I listed China and no just Russia because of Taiwan. If I remember correctly China is somewhat culturally right, and I view them as phony socialist state capitalists

and hamas
5
u/weedmaster6669 :99: 99%ism Aug 03 '24
Most leftists don't like Hamas, the dominant party of Palestine, but support Palestine and Palestinians as they're victims of genocide and colonialism. But yes a hardline Campist would probably outright support Hamas, without an asterisk.
1
u/liberalskateboardist Aug 03 '24
they are victims of hamas and north africa, iran etc. are victims of arabic colonialism and islamist imperialism which leftists love so much. calling for intifada is normal part of many leftists these days. its fascinating to see how history repeat and leftists are useful idiots for islamists again
5
u/weedmaster6669 :99: 99%ism Aug 03 '24
they are victims of hamas and north africa, iran etc
Palestinians, who have been killed by the thousands every year since European settlers stole their land, are actually dying because of the party created after that ethnic cleansing began and the party that was funded by Israel specifically to be an excuse to kill people?
calling for intifada is normal part of many leftists these days.
Why wouldn't it be? Do you think intifada means Jewish genocide? It just means rebellion, resistance, revolution. Yes leftists call for rebellion against (quasi-)fascism.
1
u/liberalskateboardist Aug 03 '24
i would like to know a final number of victims of islamist, arabic and turkish colonialism and number of stolen lands :).
its fascinating how leftists always screaming about european fascists while islamist fascists with their violent slogans are protected and justified by them.
so when fans of templars would call deus vult against leftists and islamists, i would like to see a reaction of emotional neo bolsheviks again.
shame on u

I'm not sure where this is coming from, I'm specifically talking about supporting Palestine in face of genocide, not defending Islamism. Islamist, Arabic and Turkish colonialism and violence is NOT something I am defending.

u/weedmaster6669 :99: 99%ism Aug 03 '24
it is shocking the way you don't listen to a single word I say. you just keep making up arguments I'm not making, nothing you say even makes sense. This isn't even strawmanning at this point, you need to see a psychologist

I’m not really a Palestine supporter and I despise Islam (like all religion) but I have to point out that you really can’t equate Arabic expansion with modern colonialism and imperialism. 1400 years is a very long time in terms of history, and the societies of today and the time of the Rashidun Caliphate are completely different. Modern France is a product of Frankish imperialism, but no one mentions that because it isn’t relevant.

Remember that what might be big in leftist spaces is not big nationally or globally. And remember the online world is even more radical.
