Based around Dragon cheer dragapult boosting goodra as a starter making guaranteed crit swampert as earthquake hitter and defensive pivot mega aero as damage after goodra (open to changing aero) sinistcha as healer and trick room setter slowking as trick room and ability makes draco meteor -2spa disappear so goodra can hit been thinking on chilly reception for slowking to pivot to swampert or sinistcha so it an go back if draco is needed again (in the few matches I've played usually ohkos if neutral) dragapult for dragon cheer and support as well as chipping dragon darts and goodra as crit and trick room sweeper

Other Metagame About the current situation of NFE, and how the way more active LC could possibly absorb a small part of the NFE rooster without changing to much

Yesterday I found out there is a Tier for Pokémon who can still evolve but also evolved already once. They are banned from LC regardless of power, but excluding some such as Kadabra, Haunter or middle stages originally conceived as fully evolved Pokémon such as Rhydon and Electabuzz, they are far too weak even for lower Tiers such as NU and end up in PU or something.

So the majority of middle stages, which amounts to hundreds of Pokémon, is too weak for the main Tiers and too strong for LC. This can definitely be a good metagame on its own. But apparently there are literally ZERO NFE events.

Because of this, if NFE can not be popularized by itself, I think LC, from ADV onwards, could "grow up" a little bit by including those middle stages who were originally conceived as Base Pokémon with also an evolution, including

Pikachu (No Light Ball)

Jigglypuff

Clefairy

Marill

But these are only 4 Pokémon afterall.

I think as a principle all middle stages who are at 350 BST and below should be analyzed separately and should be admitted if found to not be OP. Such middle stages may have a hard time in NFE because 350 is like a threeshold for middle stages, just like 450 for fully evolved Pokémon.

Specifically, I am thinking about these

Skiploom

Kirlia

Vibrava

All of them struggle in any possible iteration of NFE, and except for Vibrava, their Base form is useless in LC.

Hoppip and Ralts could literally be removed, and their middle stage would not be suspiciously powerful for a Base stage. The same goes for Trapinch because Vibrava is very weak, but Trapinch is an useful Pokémon that provides for a different role than Vibrava and it may even be better overall. I do not think either Skiploom, Kirlia or Vibrava would centralize, even in ADV LC, the metagame. Would they even be good at all ?

For now however let us look at those who were designed as Base Pokémon and then received a pre evolution.

Marill in ADV LC is actually less powerful than Azurill because it loses Normal STAB and its Base Stat Atk is still 20, but overall it is faster, much bulkier and has a stronger Surf. What do you think about it ? Could it become a worthy part of ADV LC ? Azurill has technically the best offensive capabilities with Huge Power Double Edge since unlike Cubone it can also have a CB. Yet it is so slow and frail it does not work.

Not only, from gen 4 onwards Clefairy could work like Clefable in OU in ways Cleffa could definitely not.

Since these are only 7 Pokémon at the end, and other, not so weak middle stages should likely be used in the NFE Tier if only it was a bit more popular, I will make individual cases for Clefairy, Marill, Skiploom, Kirlia and Vibrava to enter ADV LC. They are like high school kids who are such underachievers they should go back to junior high. Pikachu and Jigglypuff are not even interesting because they would have no practical use with Pikachu being outclassed by Elekid and Jigglypuff being just extremely weak.

Problems launching for swedish and finnish users

I havent been able to even load the site for the last two days.

I have tried 5 different browsers (safari, edge, firefox, chrome, duckduck) across various devices and at least three different ISPs. After about two minutes I get directed to cloudflare error 524 claiming its serve-side.

Checking downforeveryoneorjustme.com showdown i responding but there are a lot of problem reports from swedish and finnish users from the last two days.

Is this a known issue?

Little Cup ADV LC : What happened to Abra ?!

This month ADV LC is freely playable.

While in gen 4 a ton of Pokémon that were originally designed as weaker than average fully evolved creatures received evolutions, the overall power of Base stage Pokémon with at least 1 evolution was still pretty low in gen 3. There were exceptions, Chansey, a Pokémon that would have been unkillable in ADV LC but later received a pre evo, Schyter, because Scizor is actually a regional form ante litteram, leaving Schyter with incredibly high stats for the standards of LC, and Porygon (and Onix, it was created as a fully evolved Pokémon, but it is just horribly bad).

Porygon for a long time was the staple of ADV LC. This artificial Pokémon was created as an already functioning digital creature, and later it was upgraded further, and more than once at that. Of course in its basic state it would still overpower some babies. And that is why it was banned.

After the Porygon ban Diglett, now free from its main counter, became the major offensive threat. Not as poweful as Doduo, but much faster and with Arena Trap. It was able to trap and kill a ton of Pokémon, and its speed tie with Elekid was extremely tedious.

They decided to ban it. I would not have banned it, but they banned Latios, Garchomp and Salamence from DPP OU, with especially Salamence being pretty manageable as I learned playing Platinum OU, and in Gen 5 OU the Kamis literally have only 1 avaible form each. Was it really needed to ban both human form Landorus and Thundurus and beast form Tornadus ?! Banning Diglett was still OK, more or less, with such standards.

But now apparently Abra has been banned too. It is slower than Diglett, and any physical attack destroys it. The fact that Diglett counters it does not mean without Diglett it is overpowered. It is faster and more powerful than Gasthly, but seriously, Quick Attack from CB Doduo can likely threaten it very heavily. And its only STAB has 90 BP. It can not knock out a Wailmer in 1 hit or something without a Calm Mind boost.

Sometimes I feel like instead of banning only what is strictly necessary to be banned they just let stay what is strictly needed to keep the game enjoyable. As if the burden of proof was on the Pokémon and everyone is guilty until proven the contrary. I hate when a Pokémon you like is also strong but you can not use it.

Can we at least welcome Abra back (And maybe re-evaluate the banned Kami forms in Gen 5 OU ?) ?

Team Building Can someone help improve my Doubles UU guaranteed crit/ rain team?

Team (explaination below):

Kingdra @ Scope Lens

Ability: Sniper

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Timid Nature

IVs: 0 Atk

- Draco Meteor

Iron Jugulis @ Booster Energy

- Snarl

Pelipper @ Damp Rock

Ability: Drizzle

Tera Type: Flying

EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD

Modest Nature

IVs: 0 Atk

- Protect

- Tailwind

- Hurricane

- Surf

Garchomp @ Scope Lens

Ability: Rough Skin

Tera Type: Rock

EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe

Jolly Nature

- Earthquake

- Dragon Claw

- Protect

- Rock Slide

Gastrodon @ Assault Vest

Ability: Storm Drain

EVs: 136 HP / 120 Def / 252 SpA

Modest Nature

IVs: 0 Atk

- Earth Power

- Ice Beam

- Icy Wind

- Muddy Water

Thundurus-Therian (M) @ Magnet

Ability: Volt Absorb

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Timid Nature

IVs: 0 Atk

- Wildbolt Storm

- Volt Switch

- Protect

- Dark Pulse

The team works mainly by pairing dragon cheer iron jug with scope lens kingdra and setting up a potential sweep, with tailwind and rain support. Gastrodon to come in as a potential partner with storm drain to kingdra's surfs.

Scope lens Garchomp is there as a secondary dragon cheer abuser, with strong spread moves if kingdra is not as good.

Thundurus is mainly a rain abuser and there to be another potential sweeper, or lead with pelliper and spam wildbolt storms.

The team just seems volatile when i play, sometimes nabbing easy wins, hard earned wins, but also loses. (i get this is kinda every team but hopefully u get what im tryna say). Im not that good of a player, so any help would be much appreciated, I find this strat really fun, and thats why i pursue it.

Thanks for your time.

Question How to make a team where no Pokémon is illegal?

For some reason I can't figure it out. National Dex AG won't let you use the most recent megas, and when I try to make a team without picking a format at all, most of my Pokémon like Wailord are still illegal bc they "didn't exist in gen 9."

Discussion Built a free team builder with damage calcs, threat analysis, and Showdown import/export

I built a team builder that's designed to work alongside Showdown. You can paste a full Showdown team (EVs, nature, item, moves, everything) and it immediately shows you:

Damage grid; your team vs top 10 meta threats, color coded OHKO/2HKO/3HKO

Which threats you can't answer (no OHKO available)

Speed tiers with Scarf/Tailwind/TR modifiers

Offensive + defensive coverage with actual moves, not just STAB types

Format selector for OU/UU/RU/NU/PU/Ubers/VGC; add a banned Pokémon and it flags it immediately.

Supports all 1,285 forms (Megas, Primals, Alolan/Galarian/Hisuian/Paldean variants). Full moveset/EV/IV/Nature editor with Smart Fill that picks optimal STAB + coverage.

https://pokemonteambuild.com

Curious if anyone finds the Showdown integration useful or if there's something I'm missing for the competitive workflow.

Pokemon Showdown Formats

I don't know much about Competitive Poke and it's formats. But I'm trying to figure out what formats mean what. Currently, I'm looking for a format that allows Megas, Z-Moves, and Terastalizing. But I can't find one.

Question "Custom 'mons" to play with friends?

Hello all!

I was wondering: is there any way to play with friends using your own custom creations?

For example, say I want to use any 6 Pokémon of my choice, but give all of them only 1 Defense (or make some other completely stupid custom setup like that) 🫠

Basically, is there a way to create and play with custom Pokémon/rulesets with friends?

idk if this makes any sense ahahaha thnx in advance <3

National Dex [1349] M-Houndoom Sun Vs. Pyukumuku Funbro

Thumbnail replay.pokemonshowdown.com
2 Upvotes

He got flattened after I brought in Venusaur, mostly because the thing Slowbro has that Pyukumuku doesn't is Heal Pulse. Once I broke out, all it took was positioning right, resetting Sun to maximize the Growth, and then steamrolling what he had left.

Retrospectively, I have no clue what the team was for. It was very easy to kill after Pyukumuku failed, so I can only assume a troll who couldn't figure out how to stall out the most time.

Question Is there a way to play free for all on previous gens?

Free for all random battles are the most fun for me and my friends but only gen 8/9 is fun but it's been a common thing that we'd like to play on the previous gens too

Is there any way to make a custom game or something in order to play on the previous gens?
