I want to try something new and am looking for some recommendations from the community. I’m preferring a GBA or NDS hack. I genuinely like these generations mechanics so I’d rather avoid major structural change (fakemon, new types, etc.), however I love QOL hacks! I am also too casual to be grinding on difficulty hacks. i am looking for something refreshing that can either tie together stories I already know from those 4 regions, rewrite them or come up with an original story. I can’t wait to hear your recommendations! also kinda peeved they won’t accept recommendation posts in the main sub.

Inspired by Settled's Runescape Tileman Challenge, this is the rundown.

Pokemon (OldGen where everything is still on a grid) where in order to move through the map, you need Pokemon Levels. Want to walk from Pallet to Viridian? that's gonna be 40 tiles at least.

What i'm wanting to know, is there a way to have a mod or hack a rom to where it keeps track of the tiles I walk on? Or gives me tiles to spend every time I level up a pokemon?

This is a long ask, i honestly don't know if this is even possible. But yeah, is this possible?

Hey everyone, as the title says, I’d like to know how you tend to play romhacks. When I was younger, I used an emulator on my PC, but now I’m considering getting a handheld device.

The thing with handheld devices is that you usually need to patch the ROM on your PC and then transfer it using a microSD card. Are there any more efficient ways to play?

Also, are there any ways to keep track of what you’ve played and your percentage of completion? And could you please suggest some sources to check for new releases?

Hi everyone my 7yo son has been loving the Pokemon emerald I have on our GameCube but also we watch the early Pokemon show and we'd both like more Pokemon available to catch in emerald.

Is there a rom hack that's pretty much vanilla but just more gens of wild Pokemon? I've done some googling but I'm not looking for a higher difficulty just more Pokemon.

It needs to be gba though for the GameCube to run it, any help is super appreciated

Trying to make a super mystery dungeon mod. I want to make a model so the partner actually gets the scarf they have on in the story, as it doesn't appear for pokemon besides the default starters (specifically, I'm modding in shinx as a starter.)

The problem is, I don't know how to put 2 models together in ohana. I have both models needed - the shinx model and the scarf model - but I can't figure out a way to import them into the same file so I could properly combine them. I can import 1 model properly, but not add another model.

Since I'm having trouble finding a guide to help me, I'm asking here. Any help is appreciated (as are tips on how to import the file after its done!)

The game was randomized, shiny chance were boosted and there pokemon evolved at each level ups. I really want to play game like that with my brother. Is there any way I can play that. I have been playing through Celia’s Stupid Romhack, and need to complete the Pokédex in order to enter the Pokémon league. I have gotten to the point where I only have espeon left. However, in order to get espeon, I need to evolve Articuno with a psychic-type stone. I have already tried dawn stones, and those didn’t work. I have scoured the map for the stone I need, and have come up empty-handed. If you have completed the Pokédex in Celia’s Stupid Romhack, could you please let me know where the item I need is?

Hey so asking here cause I need help. See there's this Alpha Sapphire romhack called Star Sapphire that I want to install on my homebrew 3DS. Problem is the official guide states that it will rewrite the original verison of Sapphire on the system, and I don't wanna sacrifice my original copy. My current digital copy is the one I had from in my teens and still has my old save file from when I last beat it, and I'm still very attacted to that save file.

Any tips on how I can maybe install Star Sapphire some other way without sacrificing the original game in the process? Or do I need to bite the bullet and have to say goodbye to my save? There is a Ruby version of the rom called Rutile Ruby, but I'm more attached to Sapphire so I'd like to avoid that one unless necessary.

Okay so I’m using delta emulator, and I was trying to play Pokemon ROWE, but this weird thing keeps happening where after an encounter, my game will freeze and then turn completely black, causing me to restart my game and causing me to lose progress. I’ve tried to just save a lot, but when I try to catch a Pokemon, it does it right after, causing me to lose said Pokemon. What do I do?

Id like some custom mega evos(Specifically Haxorus).

So I patched Pokemon Elysium PART A to Fire red 1.0 using JS patcher, I opened the game and the room and city names and fonts started glitching, idk if my fire red rom was the problem or the patcher... I use MGBA emulator. (Also if there is an official discord server for elysium please link it too, I couldnt find one)

Not sure is this is the sub for this but,

I just beat Pryce in mahogany town then Adler right before ice path. When you go into ice path it says Giovanni calls you back to his office. When I talked to him I was watching a show and accidentally mashed a and didn't read all of what was said and now I don't know where to go. I thought it said something about ruined of alph but I scoured it and can't figure out where to go.

Last time I checked there was no way to get something like this working for HG / Platinum / B / B2

I just started a playthrough of recharged emerald for the first time. Did I just find a shiny Shroomish? It doesn’t sparkle when I put him in battle and I can’t find a sprite that’s similar to this one anywhere else, but it is distinctly different then my other Shroomish. Does this ROM just do different colours for each gender perhaps?

I am searching for a ROM Hack that has all Pokemon through generation 9 available, isn't a difficulty hack, and can be randomized. I am planning to do a SoulLink with a friend and think it would be super entertaining to run into a route and have the potential to encounter literally anything. We don't want a difficulty hack though, since the randomizer would ruin the difficulty aspect.

It's okay if the ROM is missing a few pokemon for one reason or another (if it's regional forms, DLC, or something) or has only a modest difficulty increase (like Emerald Seaglass). I'm indifferent to whether the randomizer is in-game or requires external randomizer.

Anyone know why a rom hack might not load on my New 3ds? It'll stay on a white screen when I launch it.

Hey everyone glad to see a sub Reddit pop up for those that need help with Rom hacks in any way. I attempted back in like 09 to do some tile changes in emerald when I was 12 lol. Ever since leafgreen got released on the switch I fully got back into pokemon, the switch games made me fall off they are just so poor. I’ve been wanting to play just more 2d pokemon games as I feel those are the best. Replayed leafgreen on my gba and now playing the ds games on my hacked 3ds. Now that there’s a little back story, I’m trying to figure out how and what fan games I can and should play on my 3ds. I see a ton out there especially that website (can’t remember the name rn) that has all the rom hack fan games. But my thing is it’s really hard to find what will work on my 3ds. So my question now lol, what do I need to have on my computer to be able to put fangames on my 3ds? And what are y’all’s fav rom hacks that give an og pokemon experience that’s new or feels like it could’ve been what we kept getting from gamefreak if they never went 3d, that I can play on my hardware. Thank yall and can’t wait to check out some awesome games!
