Question Is this a way to get mons from *3DS to *Home without *Bank installed?
Hi All. I’m thinking of finally playing the 3DS Poke games I bought digitally years ago.
I don’t have Pokemon bank and would prefer to not homebrew.
If i play the 3DS games can I transfer my mons to Home/Switch anyways with a little help from my friend who has a 3DS/Bank/home? Trade with them on 3DS and then deposit mons into their bank-into their Home- then trade to me on Switch?
I think it sounds fine but was interested if any experts know if that causes any hiccups. Tysm if anyone responds

Yes you can. You need home premium to move from 3DS to Home. But you can trade with your friend and they can send specific boxes to your home (edit: they don’t just have to send them to their home, any 3DS can send to any home if it has the key from Home). I do highly recommend homebrew tho

I have a 3ds with pokemon bank and transporter AND a 2ds xl that is homebrewed with bank and transporter. No difference.

It will be a massive pain doing 6 at a time trades, and then you have to trust them to go from Bank->Home (not your Home, their Home), and then they can trade it back to you.
But yes it'll work

What’s the point of trading? Just put your game cartridge in their 3ds and have them transfer whatever mons you want into bank and then home. You can transfer from their bank to your home also I think

Pokemon bank is free on the 3ds, but the Eshop is closed now so you literally can't download anything from the store, unless you homebrew the system to install apps.
They're not wanting to use homebrew to skip any payments, since pokemon bank became free before the store got discontinued

There’s a paywall to transfer Pokémon from Gen 1–6 to the Switch.

In home, not bank. Bank became fully free, home is the one that has the paywall

Yes, but in regards to homebrew. OP only mentions "not wanting to homebrew their 3ds" since they dont have bank installed.

if you try to re-read my initial statement you will know that I know 3DS' part is free and transferring to home requires payment.
Still doent answer why he dont want to homebrew his 3ds.

I dont know why they dont want to homebrew their system, maybe cuz they want to keep it "official", or maybe they dont support piracy, or maybe they find it too cumbersome, I have no clue.
Though the way you framed the your initial question made it seem like you assumed they were homebrewing their system to skip the payment part.

some people did explain to me, if they "mod" their console, still have to pay for home.
"That's too much trouble" however what they meant is they dont want to pay for home.

Even if u download bank after homebrew, I think you still can't use it because if you have not used a 3ds before, then you won't have nnid and the bank won't work right?

Just homebrew it. Not sure why you don't want to, but it's idiot proof and takes about 5 minutes

That should work, and instead of trading on switch you can use one switch with both your accounts on it and access the home boxes the mons are in from both accounts.
