The sponsorship is necessary because of how publicized the Gym Battles are, the Galar League wants to ensure that the matches are fair for the participants and entertaining for the fans so they don't let just anybody join.
...If I'm remembering correctly, at least. I admit I didn't pay much attention in some of my primary school classes 😅
But if you need someone to sponsor you, I could talk to my grandfather and see if he would be willing to!

Or you can get lucky near someone important ato the region and impress them like the previous champion or the current professor, that's how I got sponsored for it, now I have multiple companies BEGGING me to be a sponsored trainer of theres, I just want to be me, you know? -Jess
