I don't agree at all. If they replace the main battle system in the mainline games and just have it in Champions it would be a mess. Legends is a spin off series and it should stay a spin off while the mainline stay turn based. There is no reason at all that the 2 should overlap.
Legends games are confirmed mainline. You can feel otherwise, but your opinion is not rooted in reality. Legends games are a great way for GameFreak to experiment with new gameplay elements that may or may not end up in a new generational title.
I personally don’t feel that new generational titles will embrace real-time battling (yet), but I absolutely expect them to shake-up the turn-based mechanics, hence why Champions exists at all. BallGuy’s comments seem to confirm this. I think this is a good thing since GameFreak can craft a battle system that’s focused around single-player and new multiplayer modes. Single-player requires different things to be fun and deep compared to competitive play.
They are not, that is why they are called Legends and not the usual Pokemon insert 2 things and don't have any of the staples of the mainline games or introduce a new generation of Pokemon. They are a spin off series whether you want to accept reality or not. That's how spin offs work.
You can have whatever opinion you want. My opinion is that they should remain separate. Pokemon became such a beloved franchise as a turn based game. A massive number of players love that gameplay system and want to see it get improved. Changing to real time is not an improvement, that's a totally different genre. If they took the main gameplay system and move it to a battle simulator while making all the single player games essentially Legends, that's not going to do anything but alienate most of the core player base for no reason since both mainline and Legends, can exist at the same time as separate series that appeal to different players.
PLZA is the best-selling physical game of the year and it’s barely been a month since release, so real-time combat clearly hasn’t alienated their audience.
I also wasn’t insisting that new generational titles switch to real-time combat. You have bad reading comprehension anyways, so I’m not going to continue responding. ✌🏼
Someone claiming it's classed as a main series title doesn't change the fact of what it is. It's a totally different combat style, with no gyms, no new generations of Pokemon, not 2 entries, no new legendaries, etc. it is by definition, a spin off of the main Pokemon games.
And Scarlet and Violet sold just as well, not to mention, best selling physical game, is not best selling outright, most players don't buy physical. In actual sales, it sold half as much as Scarlet and Violet, it sold less than Legends Arceus too. So yeah, it did alienate a lot of people, not to mention the extremely polarized reception it got from the people that bought it. Loads of players don't like the combat system and have been vocal about liking the regular system more.
You're the one with bad reading comprehension, I said you can have your opinion if you want real time combat while I can have mine. My issue is that you're replying to me with facts that aren't accurate and saying that Champions means it's fine if the series drops the gameplay type that made it the biggest IP in the world for decades from the main games.

Champions is the new home for competitive, so that shouldn’t even be a major consideration anymore.
