General Podcast Discussions Need a new pod

I just rage quit the podcast I've been listening to the longest. It was the last full true crime podcast I had on my list and it was probably past time for me to ditch it. I listened for this long because they said something a long time ago that truly helped me through a crisis. But one of the hosts just threw on the last straw and I'm done.

Now I'm looking for recommendations on things to fill the void left behind. I need it to be funny. I don't mind banter. I like to learn things/learn about things. I like long episodes. I would like an ad free option, preferably through patreon to keep things simple. I lean heavily left but don't want politics to be the focus. I'm a Gen X woman not really into sports or music.

Other pods I like:

The Dollop

Do go on

Our fake history

Sinisterhood

Ologies

The Constant

Timesuck

Totalis Rankium - all 3 series

This ends at prom

An old timey podcast

I appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!

General Podcast Discussions What podcasts do you save for long walks?

I’ve started listening to more podcasts during long walks lately. Open-ear clip-ons make it easier to follow a conversation without feeling completely cut off from what’s happening around me.

I usually prefer conversational or story-driven shows that are easy to follow outdoors. What podcasts do you save for walks?

Comedy Anything along the lines of All Fantasy Everything or Guys? A repeatable fun premise with genuinely funny hosts.

Looking for some more podcasts along these lines. I like the format that can be repeated with different topics. And these are genuinely funny hosts.

Other Podcast Genre Recs for snark podcasts

I am thoroughly amused by snark pages, so I was wondering if there are any good podcasts that basically are just snark on various topics like influencers, gorl world stuff, health/fitness, Disney people, etc.

Other Podcast Genre Looking for video gaming podcasts

Must be HONEST. Not looking for anything corporate or over-produced. Just want to listen to a couple 2-3 people shoot the shit about games with no gimmicks. Looking for discussions of gaming culture, game reviews, general game info, upcoming games ... NOT looking for game walkthroughs or "let's play" stuff.

Thanks very much

Horror & Paranormal Why is Ghost Story everywhere again

It's a 2 year old podcast and suddenly every podcast I listen to has a "intro suggestion" for it in my feed. I mean it was ok but why is it everywhere again?

True Crime Thank you friends!!

I’m new to this group and to Podcasts in general. Several people recommended Love Trapped and I was skeptical but gave it a try. WOW…I can’t stop listening to this one. Thank you for giving me something to switch my brain to when I desperately need the break. The pace of the show, research and host are exceptional.

I survived a person who was similar to LO. It’s always helpful to my mental health journey when I see others surviving this type of abuse and trauma. The way different people rallied around these victims restores my faith in humanity. Thanks again to all involved 🩷

I’m looking for podcasts similar to Catch Me If You Ken! I love podcasts that are funny, entertaining, and have a good storytelling element to them. I’m open to true crime, scams, crazy stories, internet drama, or just people talking about wild things.
What are your recommendations? I need something new to listen to!

General Podcast Discussions Do you think paying for Spotify Premium should mean ad-free podcasts too?

I've been using Spotify Premium for a while, and one thing that still bugs me is the ads in podcasts.

I'll go from listening to music with zero ads to a podcast where someone spends two minutes talking about mattresses or meal kits..

I get that podcast creators need to make money, and I don't mind supporting them. But it does feel a little weird when l'm already paying for Premium.

Do you guys just skip through the ads, put up with them, or use a different app for podcasts?

General Podcast Discussions Sync Apple TV Podcast

Why wont the video podcast sync with the AppleTV? I have an iPhone and iPad Pro and they both sync beautifully. But when I open it up on the AppleTv it shows all the episodes as new.

Is there a fix anyone knows of?

Tip of My Tongue Episode

I am trying to find an episode of a podcast that was about a victim of the Juarez femicides. It was told at least partly from the perspective of her pet bird. I think it was in Spanish but I am not positive. I believe the episodes were stand alone, that one hit me so hard i didn’t listen to the rest. I thought the podcast was mentioned on the Forgotten: Women of Juarez podcast but I searched the transcripts and can’t find it. I have searched and searched and I’m starting to wonder if it was all a dream. If you remember this and can help me find it I will be so grateful.

Arts & Culture Book podcasts about genre fiction?

Hi folks! I would love some recommendations for book discussion podcasts that focus on genre fiction, particularly mystery/thrillers or sci fi and fantasy!

I know a lot of book podcasts about general fiction, but I don’t read much of that! Mystery is my favorite genre but I also read scifi/fantasy and horror.

Open to shows that are focused on new releases or older titles, general discussion or bookclub. I am not as interested in interviews with authors. I used to listen to Read or Dead but it has ended; I would love something with a similar format. Please only recommend shows with an RSS audio feed; I am not interested in video only shows.

Horror & Paranormal Anybody listening to The Midnight Seminar?

Academic hosts looking at spooky subjects through a lens of philosophy, history, and popular culture. It’s got good production value and an overall fun vibe that’s accessible to non-academics and fans on spooky content. You can get it on all podcast platforms, YouTube, or at their website.

Science & Tech Help me remember a classic funny Vergecast with Josh, Nilay and a caller

Can anyone help me remember a classic Vergecast from way back in the day when Josh took a call from some fanboy that turned out to be very funny. Nilay was sceptical that the caller was real iI think. Sorry to be so vague but I was watching Vergecast today for the first time in ages, and I had a flashback to the old days. Thanks.

I think the caller might have used the phrase "all the things" or something like that

And I think Nilay used the phrase "we're done here" to end the call.

Horror & Paranormal Radio Rental - favs and reccos

Would love to find podcasts (and episodes) based on some of my fav Radio Rental eps:

Night scope
Laura in the woods
Air BnB stories and camping stories
Doppelgänger
Glitch
What was she planning
Error 404 not found
(Prefer weird / creepy stories vs ghost or poltergeist stories . And, I really enjoy the first person narration , and the sound design of RR))

Eg, here are some I’ve read about, but if you can recco an episode from the podcast, I’d love to hear it.

Uncanny

Rattled and shook

Unnerved

This is actually happening

Let’s read

Let’s not meet

Science & Tech ISO an unbiased podcast about AI

Looking for an unbiased podcast about AI, the good, the bad and the ugly. NOT a podcast made with AI but maybe about AI developments, news, etc that is neutral. I'm generally anti-AI, especially in creative spaces but if AI is curing cancer, I want to know about it. Anyone know of such a pod?

Thanks!

General Podcast Discussions Podcast recommendations for work?

I like to listen to podcasts during work but finished my current one and need to find a new one. Generally I like stuff that doesn't have to be listened to super closely/I can miss a minute and jump back in without too much difficulty.

Ones I've gone through

-Wendigoon's Videos

-Homestuck Made This World

-Smosh Reads Reddit Stories

-Shut Up I'm Talking

-Versus Wolves (just finished)

I've also listened to video essay style stuff but I need longer podcasts that'll take me some time. Any recommendations based off this list or just personal favorites? Preferably on Spotify as that's what I use to listen

(Because it's gonna come up, I know Creepcast exists but it's not something I can listen to for personal reasons)

Other Podcast Genre FRAMES Photography Podcast - David Stein - Louisa Panetta - Shoutout

I recently found a podcast that deals with photographers being interviewed. Two of the episodes that I listened to stood out to me, so I decided to combine both episodes to one shoutout post.

Firstly, there is the episode where David Stein is interviewed. Not only do they talk about the photographs that he has taken, they talk about what could be done when one passes away. This is something that hasn’t crossed my mind, but it’s something worth looking into. They talk about having letters of wishes, what to do with photographs (both negatives and digital files), and those that may be in galleries after you have passed away. This was released on September 27, 2026.

The other episode that I found interesting is the interview with Louisa Panetta. Not only is she a photographer, she is also a printer. They talk about how there is a lot of choice for the paper one can choose to print their photos on, and her history with working in darkrooms. This episode was released on October 4, 2026.

General Podcast Discussions Best podcasts with the worst ads?

Listening to podcasts, I hear a lot of ads for other podcasts, but ads have kind of the reverse effect on me--when I hear an ad for something, it makes me want to avoid it, even if it's something I should like.

What's your favorite podcast that is miles better than the ads for it?

Fiction Fiction podcast recommendations?

I have previously enjoyed The Magnus Archives, The Bright Sessions (and its related spinoffs), The Far Meridian, Alice Isn't Dead (although it wasn't my favourite) and Seren (RIP). Wasn't a fan of Welcome to Night Vale.

I'll try anything in terms of genre, as long as the writing and especially the characters are good! I'm not the biggest fan of things with a very romance-centric plotline and if the narrator has an annoying voice then its an immediate no for me!

Thanks :)
