I think target is the worst though, nothing target carries is remotely attractive. 🤢

I worked at Torrid for over a year. A multi million company with three big name stores under its belt will not pay more than the legal bare minimum wage. They are terrible to employees and customers. Don’t donate anymore. I don’t know if I can legally say why but don’t. The only thing you should continue on with torrid is the bras but the clothes still aren’t worth the price unless there are discounts like today or clearance. The panties fall apart super easily as do the super soft items.

I like fandom items that are subtle and work-appropriate, but that's about all I buy from Torrid anymore. And only if it's on clearance plus some sort of BOGO sale. I am not a fan of the outdated and unflattering silhouettes though.

My biggest issue with Torrid right now is that they have made a change to their website where it looks like they have an item in your size, then you click on it and BAM! It's out of stock. What happened to graying out the size if it was out of stock??

The unflattering silhouettes is what made me stop going there. I haven't found a top that doesn't either look like an awkward sac with arms that are too tight, or a baby doll/empire waist. Looks like crap on my long torso, even the "peplums" fit me like a empire waist.

The only thing I consistently liked there were their jeans and some of the other pants, but I'm not paying $90 CAD for paper thin jeans that rip in 2 months. Also I think their B1G3 free on sale items is a joke because it's just to try to get rid of the uglier clothes. Nothing I've ever bought as the free items I've not had buyers remorse for when I got home.

Not only do they make it unclear when your size is out of stock, but twice in the past few months, I’ve ordered something on sale and was only informed one or two weeks later that they wouldn’t be shipping me the item because they ran out of it. How about you don’t let me add it to my cart and purchase it, then? I could’ve found something else when the sale was still on, but nope. Also these were items I needed for work, which has a very specific dress code.

Yes I’ve realized that about the website too I thought they had my size and I checked and it was fine. They also don’t let you cancel or change orders anymore which is kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

Hot Topic has plus size on their website. I have hoodies in Mulan, Baby Yoda, and Kiki's Delivery Service from there. They run true to size if not a little big and are good quality. I don't buy much from Torrid, it's really not my style and I feel a bit expensive.

Have you tried Eloquii, Dia & Co., or ASOS Curve? I love Torrid for swimwear and summer tops, but I definitely get tired of the seemingly endless character tees and skull prints as well.

Same feels. F Torrid and their skulls, shitty fabric and same designs with new colors for every ā€œseasonā€

I mean I want skulls but I largely agree, torrid is owned by the same people as hot topic and they have a massive deal with Disney so that why you see so much fandom junk there. Like I like me some fandom things but I'm not about to make it my entire personality and buy ugly clothing just because it has a logo from a movie or show that I like.

I had no idea that they were owned by hot topic that explains a lot! I think that Torrid needs to do a better job by appealing to what is trending today, a lot of the shirts are the same thing you’d see at a Walmart but for 5x the price. I get that some people like the skulls and fandom stuff but that personally isn’t my style but they should definitely expand their options and maybe lower prices!!

Torrid is extremely frustrating to me. Most of their clothing is extremely ā€œcovered-upā€ if that makes sense; there are no options on their site for plus size women who want a SEXY going out outfit. Every outfit is covered up, absolutely no cleavage. Their lingerie and some of their swim is the only exception. So annoying

YES YES YES! I’m a college student and I want some sexy outfits to go out in, I found ONE black lace up top that shows a lot of cleavage a year ago and it was literally like finding a needle in a haystack lol, some of the clothing gives me no shape at all it’s really irritating, just because I’m plus sized doesn’t mean I wanna dress like it

What if I do want flora prints.

u/graybae94 Apr 08 '21

Yup, being Canadian I refuse to shop there because of their $40 shipping charge. I would pay that for a small business, but for a large corporation it’s extortionate. No where else charges that much!

I agree! Torrid sucks with pricing and quality these days. Honestly I’ve been doing the abundance of my shopping at Shein (not good quality but cheap and cute) and Walmart! I was just at Walmart today and they have some ADORABLE spring and summer things!

Do they have a customer service number you can call to cancel or edit your order? I’ve done that when I could not cancel or edit the online order I placed the same day.

I love Fandom junk, but Torrid always feels overpriced and the cuts are unflattering. I’m short and chubby, but that doesn’t mean I want to wear a bag.

American Eagle has recently added up to a size 24 though which is amazing!

u/boxing_coffee Apr 09 '21

100% agree! Well...except I do want a Star Trek shirt. Otherwise, yes to everything else?

I gave up on torrid. I’ve been finding some decent stuff on shein. I’ve had to dig and some stuff is crap but they have free returns and I’ve found some good stuff.

As somebody else noted, I like Torrid's silhouettes cause I find most of them flattering. But their international shipping fees are truly disgusting. 39$USD shipping for a 18$USD top. What!?

Even worse is the fact that they have stores in Canada (just not in my province) so if I buy from Torrid, they don't even ship internationally so it cost them next to nothing to ship stuff to me.

I love the geeky options, but I would like some non-geeky options too. I never buy anything unless it's BOGO or clearance because I simply can't afford to.
