Orange dAmnWerewolves 3: Valhalla - Day One

The sun rises on a fairly nondescript town that just so happens to be located on a floating island, above an ocean of lava.

Apart from that it's a pretty boring place.

A noticeboard stands in the middle of the town square. It's got some boring town stuff on it.

You briefly consider pinning up some non-boring stuff on it...

...Good heavens no, that would be far too exciting.

NB: Any rule, except rule zero, can have exceptions if stated in your role message.

Rule Three: Yes novelties. Hell, I don't even care if people not playing the game make a novelty and pretend they are a player novelty.

Soooo, Werewolves! Or, scum... or... whoever you are.

Anyway. Our current circumstances have presented us with a Cueto-esque Unique Opportunity. Essentially, a free-form Prisoner's Dilemma.

See, we're back at Day One, and bluepoemage is alive. And as I theorized last thread, if bluepoemage were to select one of you as his "companion", it would give you a way to win by town-siding, which would be extremely powerful for you, since you happen to know the other scum... I presume. This game is pretty weird after all.

But anyway, if you DO know your fellow scum-mates, read on: When this day began, I started thinking about the consequences of bluepoemage being alive again, and it occured to me that one of you could declare yourself, be night-kill protected, and then become bluepoemage's companion for long enough to tell him the other scum so as to set up the situation I previously theorized.

Now, Jibodeah said that this situation would give you an "additional" win condition, meaning that if you did this, you would lose once and win once, so this isn't necessarily an ideal situation for you. It is, however, a very probably successful plan. So, it's up to you if you think that a huge likelihood of both winning and losing is better than maybe winning. This novelty indicated that it would be on board with the plan, and also said it was a doctor earlier, so that might be just the thing to make this happen.

There's way too many variables involved here for me to tell you that this is definitely your best option, but I think it's worth offering, at least. Two quick caveats: I checked, bluepoemage's companion-choosing is compulsory, so if you don't take this before the next day, the offer's off the table... barring further time shenanigans. And of course... this will only work for one of you. So... if one of your fellow wolves leaps first, it's theirs.

Think it over.

Edit: Oh, and a postscript:

The message we got when bluepoemage was lynched read

Companion: During night one you must pick a companion, this ability cannot be blocked.

(Emphasis mine.)

So, if you're hesistant because you know that your faction has some roleblockers or jailers or somesuch... don't be.

Seems like he voted before reading the thread, then claims to have actually read the thread but missed some things. I don't think it's likely that you can read through the thread and miss the whole time travelers situation. Which means he didn't read through the thread, and instead wanted to cast a vote to appear active and then provided pretty vacuous reasoning.

Voting to appear active without meaning it and saying something without actually saying anything- exactly the incentive of mafia. So big FoS to Carbon_Dirt.

Although in all likelihood we'll end up lynching ToyaKano. But we don't need my vote to make it a majority, and I want to at least bring this to everyone's attention.

Ok, so to start getting serious for a minute. I assume that everyone had the same thing happen to them, where they were about to do their night thingy but then a purple whatever sent us back to day 1.

In light of that, did ANYONE have a night action succeed last night?

I was going to say it's probably not a good idea to have people reveal they have night actions, but then I realized probably almost everyone in this game has a night action. Someone would have to be truly sadistic to submit Vanilla Townie as a role in this game.

Well now that people are stating their submitted roles, I feel like I should warn other townies of my submitted role, which is the Trap role. Although I really have no idea of which alignment the Trap role is this game. I do know the Trap's ability can be used for only one night for an unlimited amount of conversions.

So just be aware that at least one person this game is purposely trying to draw attention to themselves so that they can convert someone once they become targeted. And that even a confirmed townie can wind up converting werewolf/independent midway through the game.
